Black History Month:  DID YOU KNOW:

Did you know that Dr. Anderson Ruffin Abbott was the first black Canadian to graduate from medical school? Dr. Abbot was the son of 2 successful business owners. When the Abbott family decided to move to Upper Canada in the mid 1800’s young Anderson attended many schools known for their superior education, including the Toronto School of Medicine which is now owned by U of T. After a few years of residency, Dr. Anderson finally received his medical license in 1861. Making him Canada’s first official black medical doctor.

Have a great day Lions!
