Attention all girls interested in trying out for the girls ice hockey team.  Tryout dates and times are posted outside the female phys. ed. office.  Please sign up and pick up a permission form.  The first tryout is Nov. 9 at 3:30 at Lions Park Arena. 

The boys leadership group will be meeting in the Reading Room of the Library at 11:30am. Students who are interested in joining can come to the meeting to find out the “why” and “what” the group is doing this year.

The meeting of the GSA or Gay Straight Alliance has been postponed this week. We will meet tomorrow in the Lecture Hall during Grade 9 lunch.

Does learning a Second language seem impossible? It’s easy when you hear it every day.  The government of Canada is offering free opportunities for students to have an exchange experience in French.  Come to the lecture hall on your lunch next Monday, November 8 to learn about the possibilities.

Attention, Staff and Students!  The Postcards for Peace have arrived.  Teachers who registered their classes to participate in the program will find their package in their mailboxes.  Please have the completed letters returned to the baskets in the Main Office before you leave on Friday, Nov. 5.

Pop by the library today to borrow one of the many books on display. This month the library is featuring books recommended by staff along with Remembrance Day titles. To borrow a book from the library, all we need is your name. Hope to see you soon

Attention all quad 2, grade 12 health care students. Pick up a consent form for your course from Mrs. Farrell in room 2029 or the guidance office. Return completed forms to Mrs. Farrell before Nov 8.

Do you love to sing?  Then vocal ensemble is for you!  Even if you missed signing up on clubs day you are still welcome to join.  Any grade.  Come on out to our first rehearsal in the music room 1154 on Tuesday, November 2nd from 3-4 pm.  Email Mrs. Ratelband if you cannot attend.

Learn about studying in Poland, in English, with entry straight from high school!! plus realistic entry requirements and summer placements back here at home.  An online information event will be held the evening of November 4 through Eventbrite.  Please contact your Guidance Counsellor to get the link to register for this online event.

BIG NEWS LIONS! After a year and a half of event cancellations, Coffee House is back! Need an excuse to hang out with friends, eat snacks, and enjoy some great live entertainment? Coffee House is the place to be! Come on out Wednesday November 17th and see all the talent our school has to offer. Open to students and staff of the ACS community.  Would you like to showcase your talent at this year’s coffee house? Auditions will be taking place Thursday November 4, from three to four o’clock after school in the library. Yes, that’s THIS COMING THURSDAY! Sign-up sheets will be posted outside of the library in order to sign up for a time slot. Auditions are to be 5 minutes max, so come prepared with your tracks, instruments, voices, and A-game! Come show off your talents and have tons of fun in the process! Hope to see you all there Lions.

The ACS Jack.Org Chapter will have their official Welcome Meeting on Friday after school in the lecture hall. The meeting will be approximately an hour in length to go over the agenda for the year. If you would still like to join the chapter please email Ms. Dabrowski ASAP as she will need the numbers attending this meeting. For existing members, please check your Microsoft Teams as a new Team was created for all Jack chapters in our school board and all information will be posted in the BHNCDSB Jack.Org Chapter Team. Have you always wanted to start up your own business?  The JA Company Program is offering an exciting, hands-on experience where you get to build a business with a group of students from various high schools throughout southwestern Ontario- ONLINE! Along with a team of volunteer business advisors, you will design, organize, and operate a real company. Sessions take place weekly from mid-November until early April, Monday Tuesday or Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Set yourself apart from the competition, sharpen your skills and develop an edge that employers are looking for.
