Happy Catholic Education Week, Lions!
May 5th has been commemorated as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Across the nation, we are called upon to wear red to acknowledge thousands of young women and girls who go missing each year. Students may replace their uniform tops with a red shirt TODAY.
Attention all girls trying out for the Fast Pitch team. There is a tryout TODAY at 3:30pm at Lions Park.
Could the Cheerleading team please see Mrs. Kandilas in portable 5 at the end of the day for a quick meeting!
There will be a brief, 10-minute meeting for any students interested in trying out for Junior or Senior Girls volleyball next year. We will meet at the beginning of both lunches in the lecture hall on TODAY. If you aren’t able to attend the meeting in the lecture hall TODAY, please email Mr. Bender to let him know.
This message is to all students who applied to become an ACS Prefect. Please check your school email. There is a mandatory meeting scheduled for all new Prefects who were successful in joining our team on TODAY in the Library over your lunch. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Members of the boys baseball team should be excused from class at 9:40 this morning and are expected to be at Bill Little Diamond by 10 am to prepare for our 1st game today against Paris District High. Players are reminded to bring a light lunch as there won't be much time between games today. Players should also be aware that tomorrow's game against Mackinnon Park at George Henry Diamond will now be played at 1 pm. Players should leave for the park after the end of period 2 tomorrow.
A reminder that any students or family members who have moved to Canada in the last ten years are invited to the Newcomer Family Dinner and Social tonight in the cafeteria beginning at 5:00 until 6:30. This is a great way to learn more about the community and connect with others. The first fifty families will receive a twenty five dollar gift card and there will be food and prize opportunities for everyone. See you there.
The Prom Committee meeting will be held on FRIDAY, MAY 6th during second lunch in room 1009.
Tennis season has begun again. Junior and Senior practices will be held every day after school weather permitting. See you there!
A small group of students from the grade 12 social justice class wants to share this amazing learning opportunity with you. This group calls themselves ‘Nova Initiative’ and designed a bulletin board filled with information about their project outside the office to help support Nova Vita. This board shares information about Nova Vita, Nova Initiative, and how you can help! Be sure to check out this board and grab a pamphlet anytime between today Monday May 2 to Friday May 6th.
As part of a social justice initiative we are asking all Lions to come out and Support the Six Nations Youth Lodge this Friday by dropping by the cafeteria during the Grade 9 and 11 lunch to purchase hand made beaded bracelets for $4 each. All monies will go towards making backpacks for the kids at the Lodge.
ACS student council has some very exciting news to share! After nearly two years we are finally able to host a school dance. Glow dance will be taking place on Thursday, May 12th from 6-9pm. Advance tickets are $7 each and can be purchased on school cash online or in person every day at lunch in the cafeteria. If payment is made online, please bring your receipt to the table in the cafeteria to receive your ticket. Guest tickets must be purchased in person, and the final day to sign in guests will be Monday, May 9th. Limited tickets for ACS students may be sold at the door for $14, but we are expecting this to be a popular event so get your tickets early if you want to avoid disappointment!
Hey Lions, don't know what to get your mom for Mother's Day this year? Don't worry, the social justice team has you covered. From May 4th- May 6th we are selling Mother's Day sweets at the back of the cafe. All the proceeds are going to Ronald McDonald house in Hamilton. Don't forget the special females in your life this year. See you there!
Attention all athletes and coaches, you don't want to miss this!! The Annual ACS Athletic Banquet is back! This is a special night where we honour our athletes, MVP's and Athletes of the Year. It takes place on Wednesday June 8th in our cafeteria. Dinner is provided and catered by Mercasa and there are many door prizes to be won! Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are available for $20 in the female phys. ed. office. Get your ticket before they sell out!!!!
The PUSHING FORWARD- TUTORING PROGRAM has begun! The program is free tutoring for students from our very own ACS teachers! The program will run from Monday - Thursday 3:05 pm - 4:05 pm. Drop by student services for more information!
Attention all females ages 14-18! Are you interested in a career in the fire service including firefighting, dispatch, and fire prevention? CAMP PHOENIX is providing a unique opportunity for females ages 14-18 years old to experience what is it is like to be a firefighter. You will experience hands on training in fire suppression, search and rescue, auto extrication, first aid and more! This camp is NO charge and takes place at Cainsville Station on 27 Ewart Ave on MAY 5th at 6-8pm. Please look for flyers around the school for additional information.
