Due to the Snow Day, our Christmas Dinner will be rescheduled at a later time. More details to follow later this week.
Hey Lions! Can I have your attention? The time all of you brainy STEM students have been waiting for has inanely arrived...It's neuroscience week! The week kicks off with a trivia challenge. Grab a partner and look around the school for 12 trivia questions about neuroscience, answer them, then bring your answers to this Thursday’s meeting! Pairs who answer all 12 questions correctly will be entered into a draw to win Starbucks gift cards! Answer sheets are available outside of Room 3005. On Thursday January 12, during both lunches, we will be joined by 2 speakers, Matthew Jones and Calista Henry. Matthew Jones is a PhD student studying neuroscience at the University of Western Ontario and conducts research towards the development of anxiety medication. Give yourself a chance to witness the future in anxiety treatment! Calista Henry, part of "The Women in Western Neuroscience," speaks on the issues related being a woman in the psychology and neuroscience industry. She's involved in the community, sharing her experiences, and she's come to ACS to share with us too!

A Women in STEM Conference is being held on Monday Jan. 30th, starting at 3:00pm following the period 4 exam. We have close to thirty female STEM professionals visiting us that afternoon, who's occupations range from aerospace engineer to cardiac surgeon, from data strategist using AI in the mining industries to a research astronomer. We are extremely proud to say that over half of our presenters are former graduates who are willing to share their success stories. We have invited students not only from our school or board but from across the entire Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk area. Registration closes on Jan. 20th and we hope to have close to 250 participants. Please don't miss out on this event. It will be one to remember!!! Register using the QR code on the posters or found on the STEM D2L page.
