The Black History Month assembly and "Throwback 2000s" Casual Dress Day will be held on Tuesday, February 28th. The assembly will occur during period 1. Staff and students are encouraged to wear clothing from the early 2000s. This is a free Casual Dress Day.
Attention current grade 10 students. Are you interested in signing up for a Secondary High Skill Major next year? ACS offers SHSM programs in: Arts, Health Care, Business, Manufacturing, Computers, and Automotive. If you think this might be right for you please come to the Lecture Hall at 1pm today for a quick SHSM meeting. Again, this is for current grade 10 students that are interested in a SHSM program next year. See you in the lecture hall at the start of your lunch!
Any grade 12's interested in writing the math contest can sign up on the STEM Brightspace page, or email Mrs. Bednarz. Please do so by the end of the week. Mr. Stec will be running practice sessions on Tuesdays after school starting March 7th in Room 3011. The date of the contest is April 4th.
Attention all girls interested in joining this year's Varsity Rugby Team. Permission forms are now available for pickup outside of Room 1087. Our practices will begin this week so make sure you are listening to announcements for dates and times.
STEM Olympics will start on Monday Feb 27th and run until March 2nd, during both lunches. Teams of students (max 4) from each grade compete against their peers in four consecutive events. There will be prizes for each daily winner as well as the crowning champions.
There will be a meeting for all those interested in playing on the Sr Football Team next fall. The meeting will take place on Monday, March 6th, in the Lecture Hall during second lunch. Students in Grade 11 wishing to attend the meeting will need permission from their period 3 teacher.
Attention CWAYC members and those interested in military history. On Wednesday March 1st, Lieutenant-Colonel Normand Levert will be making a live, Canada wide presentation via teams. "Lieutenant-Colonel Levert served with the Royal Canadian Engineers for more than 30 years specializing in demining and advised on antipersonnel landmine stock destruction." He will share his experiences and answer student questions. The presentation will be bilingual. If you would like to attend the presentation, you need to sign up outside Room 1013. The presentation will take place in the Lecture Hall from 1:00pm-2:00pm on March 1st. Please see Mrs. Flanagan in 1013 if you have any questions.

Email a video of your talent to Mrs. Ratelband by the due date - Friday, March 31st by midnight. Please ensure your artistic choices such as music, costuming, theme, language etc. reflect the moral tone of ACS.
A special contest for all students is happening right now in the Library. It's called Blind Date With A Book! For the rest of February come to the Library and unwrap a book and create a Poem using the book you selected. The best poem will win an Amazon gift certificate. Rush to the library today before all the Blind Date Books are gone. LEAP members who enter the contest will receive a LEAP point. Contest closes March 1st.
