1.   Monday September 30th is National Truth and Reconciliation Day (Orange Shirt Day) at ACS.

2.   Are you interested in spreading kindness and want to support those who are in need in our community? Do you want to hang out with friends and have a great night while also earning community service hours?   Well, we have just the event for you! Come join the Assumption Scares Hunger event held on October 30 from 4 pm to 8:30 pm. The first meeting will be held on October 2, and the second meeting is on October 11th. All meetings are in the lecture hall and all meetings are held during the lunches. Come join the fun and help collect thousands of pounds of non perishable foods for those in need in our community. Want to learn more, and sign up? we hope to see you at the meetings!

3.   Student council is proud to announce that ticket sales for this year's homecoming dance will begin on Wednesday, October 2nd on school cash online. The event will run from 6-9pm on Thursday, October 10th and the cost is $7. If you intend to bring a guest from another school, please pick up a guest permission form from the main office TODAY. Guest tickets will be sold starting Thursday at the back of the caf on all 3 lunches, but permission forms MUST be completed before purchase. A reminder that only one guest is allowed per ACS student, and they must be enrolled in high school to attend."

4.   Attention grade nine students who have geography this semester ! You are invited to join the Niagara Falls geography trip on Thursday, October 17th! There are only 45 spots available, so please bring your signed permission form to Mrs. Walsh in room 3024 during your lunch break ASAP! We hope to see you there! 5.   Attention grade 9s - if you signed up for the 180 Team at club fest check your school email for important information about the 180 team retreat.

6.   We are looking for students to be altar servers at our school Masses. You do not have to have any previous experience but you do have to be Catholic for this role. Training for altar serving will take place this week on Wednesday right after school in the chapel. It will take about 20 minutes. Contact Mrs. Sheldrake in room 2053 if you are not able to attend and to schedule training at another time.

7.   Are you in grade 11 or 12 and would like to be a Eucharistic Minister for our school Masses.  Contact Mrs. Sheldrake today or tomorrow and she will provide training for you. You do have to be Catholic to be a Eucharistic Minister.

8.   On Tuesday during period one, we have a speaker coming in to talk about the trades in the area of plumbing, steamfitting and welding.   If you are in grades 11 or 12, please visit Mrs. Martello in Student services to sign up for this trades talk.

10.   Attention SINGERS! This is your LAST CHANCE to join Vocal Ensemble. The group will CLOSE to new members after October 1st. For those who are already a member, please make sure to join REMIND. Instructions on how to do so are posted on the music room door, #1154. See Mrs. Ratelband for more information.

11.   Attention Lions!    Please mark your calendars, the second meeting for Amplify Your Culture will be held on Thursday, October 3rd, on all lunches in the lecture hall. This is also your last chance to join the event and represent your culture to the school!  Also please check your emails for important information! 

12.   Dance Team Auditions will be held Wednesday, October 2nd from 3-5 on the stage in the caf. Register using the QR code outside of the Drama Room and pick up a permission form from Mrs. Boschman.   Please wear comfortable clothing to move in and a water bottle.  Email Mrs. Boschman if you have any further questions. 

13.   Listen ACS net club members. Our first meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 2 from 3 to 4 in room 1004. Remember to check your outlook for important information regarding materials you need to bring to the first meeting and to confirm attendance. See you soon Mrs. Cameron.

14.   There will be a meeting held today during senior lunch in Room 2006 with Mr. Virdo for ALL currently registered BUSINESS FOCUS SHSM STUDENTS as well as ALL STUDENTS IN THE DECA CLUB.    Feel free to bring your lunch.

15.   Attention Grade 11 and 12 French Students!     Le Club Français is thrilled to invite you to a Planning Advisory Council meeting at lunch today! We will brainstorm upcoming events, discuss leadership roles, and cover various other items!    This will be an excellent opportunity to share your ideas and collaborate on future events.    Please email Mme. 16.   Attention LEAPers and all readers! Do we have an opportunity for you! This Wednesday LEAP and the Library are hosting graphic novelist and artist, Svetlana Shmakova at 2:00 PM in the Lecture Hall. All students are welcome to attend with teacher permission. Please sign up in the library by the end of the day on Tuesday. See you there!

 

Sports Desk:

1.   On Thursday the junior girls basketball team defeated PJ 69-10. It was a great team game where all 12 players scored! Sienna Luciani led with 16, Kate Kostiuk had 8 and Manuela Stavale had 6. Avery Stapledon and Tanvee Angrish had great defensive games! The team plays tonight at 4:00 at ACS against McKinnon park! Come on out and cheer the girls on!

2.   Attention all Cross Country runners! If you are interested in participating in the Brock race this Thursday, you must let your coaches know by 3pm today! Reminder, bus leaves at 7:40am. Be there! From your coaches
