SPORTS:
1. Last Friday, our senior tennis team competed in the COWASSA championship in Orangeville. Czeska and Eden List represented our girls doubles team and were able to advance to the second round before being eliminated. Adam Bednarz and Matt MacLean represented our boys' team, and despite losing their first match, were able to go undefeated the rest of the day and advance the final. The final game needed a tiebreaker to crown a winner, and our boys team stepped up their game and won 7-5. This is the first COWASSA tennis title for ACS and the boys are now on their way to OFSAA in June. Great work boys!
2. Congratulations to the Field hockey team for making it to the CWOSSA semi finals for the third year in a row. In a must win game, the lions battled hard against a strong Guelph team. Bella Hipkin earned the shut out in net and Danika scored the lions lone goal. In semifinal action, the lions faced last years OFSAA bronze medalists and battled until the final whistle. Unfortunately, we couldn’t match Bluevale’s experience. Bella played awesome in a net, the defence battled all game and Georgia Hawkins scored our goal. Congratulations to all team members on an excellent season.
3. Last night the junior girls defeated north park 58-20. Tanvee lead the team with 11 points. Aribah and Manuela played great defense. The junior girls travel to Guelph today and tomorrow for their final tournament. Good luck ladies!
4. The senior girls basketball team defeated North Park 57-18 last night. All players put points on the score sheet. Kate hit 3 big threes, Audra and Jessie played hard on defense. We have one final regular season game against BCI on Monday. Come out and support our lady lions.
Have a great weekend Lions!
