1. Attention grade 12 and 13 students who missed the University and/or College Application Workshops. You are invited to attend the workshop in the Lecture Hall today at 11:30am.
2. The Library Advisory Council, L.A.C., is hosting a science fiction movie and trivia night on Friday, November 8th. We will be watching the movie Dune from 3-7 PM. The cost for the tickets are $5 and will be sold at the back of the caf during lunch all this week. Pizza and a drink are included with your ticket. Come find out which is better, the book or the movie.
3. Attention Cadets, Scouts, and Guides—you are being invited on Monday to wear your uniforms on Monday as we celebrate Remembrance Day. Please sign-up on the windows outside of the Main Office today.
4. If you love to debate and you are interested in global issues, the Quake model United Nations is the perfect activity for you. Come to an information meeting Friday at lunch in the Lecture Hall. Bring your lunch.
5. ACS Knit Club. Batch 4 of scarves for the homeless shelter has been dropped off. Our meeting is today from 3-4 in room 1004. See you after school. Blessings, Mrs. Cameron
6. Last reminder, all participants in Amplify Your Culture, we are so excited to hold this event and look forward to seeing you in the caf before morning announcements tomorrow to set up.
7. The GSA is meeting today in portable 15 during grade 10 lunch, Student Services during grade 9 lunch, and in 1141 during senior lunch.
8. Religion Study hall for grades 9-10 is held every Tuesday/Thursday in room 1004 run by Mrs. Cameron. Bring your lunch and come to get some help if needed. Never stop believing in yourself!
9. This is a reminder for all DECA members. Your pre-competition test is scheduled for this Thursday, November 7, after school in Room 2006. This is a mandatory test you must complete this Thursday after school in order to attend Sunday’s regional competition. Please see Mr. Virdo with any questions.
10. Tryouts for the boys hockey team will resume today. Players need to have a signed permission form to skate, and they will be released from class at 2:15. See you on the ice.
11. Let’s respect and help keep our community clean Lions. Please use the garbage cans when you are at the plaza or elsewhere on lunch. If you are walking back to school, please wait and use the garbage cans here at ACS. Let’s Keep Our Community Green and Clean.
12. Any Lion’s interested in community service hours by helping cleanup around ACS and the surrounding community please inquire with administration in the main office.
13. A reminder that the Quake “Thank A Vet” writing competition ends on Friday. In 500 words of less, what could you say to thank and honour a Canadians veteran? In the past students written letters, poems, songs, stories and reflections. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Entries can be placed in the “Thank a Vet” basket in the main office.
14. Attention ACS Jack Chapter Members! Join us this Friday at 3:10 PM in the Lecture Hall for an important meeting! We’ll be recording one of our main videos of the year, so please be on time and come dressed in uniform or spirit wear.

16. D&D members we will hold a general meeting Tuesday November 12 in Room 2073 after school. If you cannot attend contact Mr. Hare. Potential Dungeon Masters see Mr. Hare in Room 2073 Thursday November 7 after school. If you cannot attend that meeting contact Mr. Hare as soon as possible.
17. Today's special in the servery will be Butter Chicken served on basmati rice with a side of naan for $6.25. Combo it up with a jet juice for $1.05 or small water for $.79.
SPORTS:
1. Shout outs go to our Jr Boys Volleyball team for ending their season on a high note. On Friday the Junior boys played their heart out in a tournament in Waterford where they made it all the way to the championships! With hard work and determination, the boys gave everything they had to solidify their place at the top. Ultimately the boys finished second place out of ten teams. What an accomplishment! Your coaches are so proud of how far the team has come and can’t wait to see them progress next year.
2. The senior girls' basketball team secured a spot in the AABHN Finals! On Monday, the team played NPC in the semi-finals. After a slow start, the lady lions upped the energy and denied the trojans, only allowing 3 points against in the 2nd half. The scoring was led by Arhyanna, Maddie and Erin. The final score was 69-16. The finals are set for Friday at 7pm in the St. John’s gym. Let’s pack their house and cheer the lady lions on to victory!
3. Monday night the junior girls basketball team secured their spot in city finals by defeating North Park 58-24. The team was lead by Sienna, Coralyn and Ali in scoring! The junior girls will now play a strong St John’s team Friday at 5:00 at SJC. The team will need support from their school to help them advance to CWOSSA! Come out and support both junior and senior girls at SJC Friday at 5 and 7. The cost will be $3.00 to get in!
