Black History Month

Did you Know?

1. Black History Month in Canada Was Officially Recognized in 1995. Black History Month started as "Negro History Week" in 1926, and was founded by historian Carter G. Woodson, before expanding into a full month in 1976. It highlights the contributions of Black artists, writers, musicians, and creators throughout history.

 2.  Madam C.J. Walker was the first self-made female millionaire in the U.S., earning her fortune in the early 1900s through a successful line of hair care products for Black women. She was a pioneer in Black entrepreneurship, women's empowerment, and social activism. Her influence transformed Black beauty standards, economic independence, and civil rights in America and beyond.

Have great Semester 2 Lions!
