1. Today is the day. The Valedictorian Essay and application due today, before 3 PM to Main Office. An electronic copy of the essay is also due, at that time, to Mrs. Fergus’s school email.
2. Hey Lions it’s registration week at ACS! Make sure you submit your courses on my blueprint for parent approval and have your parents complete the forms and fee on school cash online! Registrations are paperless and due all this week online. The absolute last day to register is Wed Feb 19th!
3. LEAP is thrilled that Hailey DeDominicis will be in the lecture hall on Wed. Feb. 26th during senior lunch only. She will be sharing her writing experiences, focusing primarily on her script turning into a screen play turning into a 2024 Netflix movie called “Our Little Secret”. If you are in grades 9 or 10, sign up for a free ticket to attend. See the sign-up sheet on the door of room 1009.
4. Tuesday is the deadline for the LEAP and the Library "Blind Date with a Book" contest. It’s your chance to win an Amazon gift card. To participate, choose a wrapped book from the library, write a poem inspired by your mystery book "date" and submit your poetic masterpiece to Mrs. Engell or Mrs. Santos in the library by Tuesday, February 18th. Don't miss out on this lovely opportunity to share your creativity and maybe even find a new book love. Happy writing, and may the best poems win!
5. Speak-up ACS! Share your beautiful creativity in honouring Black History Month through poem, rap, free verse, broadside poem (which is a short poem with art or photography), spoken word, or an opinion piece. As writer-activist Audre Lorde said, “I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken.” Please see Mrs. Connolly if you’re interested in sharing your voice and participating in the contest. Allies are welcome!
6. This message is for students who park in the student parking lot. Please ensure that your parking pass is visible in your front window. If you require a parking pass, please bring $5 to the main office to obtain one. Cars without passes will be recorded and given a warning ticket. If cars without passes continue to park in the lot, further action will be taken.
7. The Junior Boys and Girls badminton team final roster is posted outside both the female and male phys ed office. For those who made the team, we will be practicing Tuesday morning.
8. Hey ACS! The date has changed for the “In Our Assumption” Era dance to Friday, February 28th. Join us in the cafeteria from 5:30-8:00pm. Tickets are on sale now for $13.00 on School Cash Online and this includes pizza, popcorn, drinks, cotton candy and cookies! Friendship bracelets and other merch will be sold at the back of the Caf today. Spirit wear is coming soon! Let’s get ready to have the time of our lives!
9. Our ACS Prefects are proud to serve you, our lions, this semester. We’re excited to offer FREE Homework Help, Tutoring, and Mentorship services. If you'd like be paired with a Prefect to get some help with a class you're struggling in, or you'd like to chat with them and find out how to get more involved at our school, please go to STUDENT SERVICES to grab an application, fill it out, and return it. Our Prefect team will review your application and begin the process of pairing you with one of our ACS Prefects.
10. It is not too late – the Arts 2026 New York City trip is half full! Claim your spot today by enrolling online. More good news – the early enrollment discount of $100 off has been extended until March 7th. Did you miss the first NYC information meeting? Don’t worry, we will be having another info session on Feb. 26 at 7PM in the lecture hall. Come out then or see Ms. Benoit in 2015 for an info package today!
11. Attention all graduates that had grad photo retakes booked yesterday! Please check your email as your appointments have been rescheduled for today, Friday, February 14th. Please note that this is your last opportunity at ACS to get your photo taken. 12. Today is the LAST day for any interested Grade 9 or 10 students to sign up for QUAKE’s Geography Challenge – now happening Tuesday February 18th during Period 1. Sign up today on the QUAKE bulletin board beside Student Services.
13. Friday's special in the servery is Rudy's favourite Cheeseburger and fries topped with your choice of tomatoes, pickles or onions for $7.75 . Popcorn chicken and fries for $7.50 and popcorn chicken poutine for $7.00. Have a great snowy family day long weekend !!!
SPORTS:
1. The ACS swim team tore up the lanes at Wednesday's CWOSSA championships! 19 athletes competed in both individual and team events, coming away with an astonishing 25 top 8 finishes, 5 of those first place! Congratulations to Nolan G, Matthew S, Oliver S, Maks P, Daria C, Stella K, Justin R, and Abby F on their OFSAA qualifications. That's right! ACS is sending 8 swimmers to OFSAA this year! Incredible! A special shout out to Abby F who is now the proud holder of 2 CWOSSA records! Congratulations to all members for an incredible season.
