1. Tonight is the night! Join us for our amazing “In Our Assumption” Era dance tonight from 5:30-8:00pm in the Caf. Tickets are still on sale on School Cash Online and will be available until the event begins tonight at 5:30pm. No tickets will be sold at the door so make sure you buy your tickets before attending the dance. Sunglasses, stickers, and friendship bracelets will be sold today and tomorrow during all three lunches. Grab some friends and join us for an unforgettable time!
2. LEAP is excited to recognize our Black History Month Poetry Contest winners. Rachel Kikulwe’s beautiful poem and accompanying painting entitled “A Dreamer’s Walk” captures the resilience and perseverance of turning one’s dreams into reality. Josh Riley’s rap addresses the power of voice in speaking out about social issues as seen in Freedom Writers. Congratulations, Rachel and Josh! Please see Mrs. CON-O-LEE in room 1012 after school Monday to collect your prizes.
3. "Attention all senior STEM students! There is an excellent involvement opportunity in STEM in the coming months: the Student STEM Fair! INFO and REGISTRATION are open at the BACK OF THE CAF at senior lunch, TODAY and TOMORROW. If you would like an opportunity to LEAD in an astrophysics-day style event, please swing by and sign up!"
4. Attention all STEM students. The STEM Olympics are back. Form a grade level team of up to 4 students and sign up outside of room 3005. STEM Olympics will run from March 18 to March 21. Your team will have the opportunity to compete in a variety of STEM challenges and to be STEM Olympics Champions.
5. Want to win a free 3-month YMCA gym membership? If you are between 12-15 years old and need something to do during March Break, join the Y.E.S. program. For more information or to register, visit the school website or TLC’s bulletin board.
6. Do you have talent such as painting, singing, acting, dancing or playing an instrument? Well then we need you to participate in “Assumption’s Got Talent”. There are prizes awarded to the top 3 finalists who perform in front of a live audience. If you have what it takes to take the Assumption Stage then submit your talent via video to nratelband@bhncdsb.ca no later than Thursday, March 6th by midnight! The adjudicators will choose the top ten to perform on Thursday, March 27th!
7. All those who were in Star Fest please meet in the drama room TODAY, Friday, Feb. 28th for a brief meeting at 3:05pm sharp. If you cannot attend please let Mr. DaCosta or Ms. Ratelband know. See you soon!
8. Hello Music students! If you’re in Vocal Ensemble, Concert Band OR Intermediate Band – you have ONE WEEK left to purchase a music hoodie! Purchase your hoodie through schoolcashonline and fill out the form for what size and names you’d like to appear on the hoodie and that’s all there’s to it! You have until Friday, March 7th by NOON to order.
9. Attention all girls interested in trying out for the varsity soccer team. Please fill out the QR code and pick up a permission form by the female Phys. Ed. office. Tryouts will begin next Tuesday after school. Senior tryouts will be from 3:00-4:30 and juniors from 4:30 to 6:00. Please see Ms. Cassano, Ms. Ferraccioli or Ms. Hynes if you have questions.
10. The next ACS book club meeting will be held this Monday March 3 at 8:15am OR after school at 3:05pm in the Library’s Innovation lab. Both meetings will be the same, come at the time that accommodates your schedule the best. Looking forward to seeing you there!
11. The ACS Prefect Program is looking for new members to join our team. This only happens once per year, so listen up: Have you heard the call to serve, to help, to give back, but you're not sure how to do it? As an ACS Prefect, you can help others with their homework, mentor new students, or help around the school AND you earn community service hours for every minute you serve as a Prefect. The Prefect Program opens doors and creates new opportunities for you. If you'd like to learn more about who we are, what we do, and to pick up an application to join, mark your calendar and please attend one of our mandatory information sessions during your lunch in the Lecture Hall on Mon. March 3. We look forward to meeting you.
12. Assumption’s Environment Club will be meeting next Thursday March 6th in Room 3024 at 3pm – all are welcome!
13. Senior Badminton team games will be on Monday and Wednesday in our gym. Please be in the gym at 3:15 the latest.
14. Attention All girls Rugby Players, the wait is finally over!! There will be a practice on Wednesday, March 5th for all returning Players at 710 am in the Gym. For all new players, Tryouts will begin Friday March 7th at 710 am. Please bring a signed permission form, they are posted outside room 1087. Please see Mr. Hummel, Ms. Luciani or Mr. Jordan if you have any questions.
