Morning Announcements

Hey Lions! Just a reminder that the next "Amplify Your Culture" meeting will be held TODAY in Portable 13 at the beginning of your 4th period class. We will debrief and make sure everyone is on track for the big day and answer any further questions that you have. Also, this will be the absolute last day to sign-up for the event, so it is imperative that you be there.

A reminder that Monday is Book Club during both lunches in the Library's Innovation Lab. 

Listen up all students of French!!  ECOUTEZ!!!  If you are taking French semester 1 or 2, this announcement is for you!  You are all invited to attend a special guest presentation on Tuesday, November 8th during Period 1 in the front half of the cafeteria.  You MUST get your period 1 teacher's permission to attend.  See a French teacher for a permission slip before this Friday.  Don't miss out on this French, musical and interactive presentation! 

Coffee House is back Lions! Need an excuse to hang out with friends, eat snacks, and enjoy some great live entertainment? Coffee House is the place to be! Come on out on November 16th and see all the musical talent our school has to offer. Tickets can be purchased on school cash online starting Monday November 7th for $8. The price will increase to $10 at the door and seating is limited so make sure to get your tickets early! Coffee House performers, please check your school emails for a very important message. We need your replies ASAP! 

Listen up Lions!  The Brant County Health Unit is starting up the program HEROS (Health Educators Reaching Other Students).  This program is geared towards high school students aged 13-18. The program's primary focus is to have fun while learning about and promoting messages on healthy living and tobacco and substance prevention. Students can gain volunteer hours and receive a letter of reference after the program.  Please see Ms. Coene in Student Services for more information.

Attention ACS!  High school students are wanted to help make a difference in your future.  The campaign “I matter, you matter, we matter” is underway.  This campaign is geared towards changing negativity to positivity by using inspirational sayings on buttons and magnets.  Please see the poster on the Volunteer Board outside of Student Services for more information.

Today's lunch feature in the cafeteria is a Thai Chicken Rice Bowl for $6.50.

The Boys Leadership Group will be meeting during second lunch TODAY in the Reading Room in the Library. 

The GSA will be meeting in Room 1035 during first lunch today instead of the drama room. During second lunch, the GSA will also be meeting in Room 1035 today.

Attention Grade 12's and fifth-year students!  The Guidance Department will be hosting the college and university presentations for co-op students and all students who missed either presentation last week. The presentation will occur TODAY in the Lecture Hall at 9:00am.  No sign up necessary!  Just report to the Lecture Hall TODAY at 9:00 am. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of the workshop and shared with classroom teachers. 

The Board Game Club's First Meeting will be in the Library this Thursday November 3rd from 3pm until 5pm.  Please join us for fun and games.

Thank you to all the students who bought books or stickers from the Library table at the Pennies for Heaven Marketplace. Many students also bought tickets for the manga prize raffle. The winner of the raffle prize receives manga posters, stickers, activity books, and manga boxes. The winner is............Matthew Wilson! Congratulations Matthew! Buying all those tickets paid off. You can come down to the library at lunch for your prize.

Tryouts for the boys' varsity hockey team begin this week on Tuesday and Wednesday at 3pm. Players are reminded to submit their signed permission form and make their tryout payment to school cash online. If you are still interested in trying out, permission forms can be found outside Room 2027.  All players also need to check their school email for additional information.  See you on the ice!

Attention all girls interested in trying out for the girls ice hockey team. The first try out is November 3rd at Lions Park.  If you have not yet signed up, you must see Ms. Lancaster in the small gym at the very beginning of first lunch today. 

ATTENTION Grade 12 & fifth-year Lions!  A reminder to include scholarship and bursary research into your pathway planning.  The scholarship chart is always available on your D2L and the schools that you are applying to have links on their websites for program specific opportunities.

Anyone interested in helping behind the scenes for the National Theatre School Drama Festival, please submit your paragraph reason to Mrs. Ratelband by 3p.m. TODAY, Thursday, October 27th.  The list will be posted by November 1st as to who is selected for this year's stage crew, props and painting.

The amazing WE SCARE HUNGER event is taking place this Friday, OCTOBER 28th.  The event starts at 4pm.  Please be sure to be on time and ready to go. Dress warmly, meet your team in the caf, and be sure that your driver sees Mr. O'Brien in the library before heading out.  This event is going to be awesome!

The next shipment of Spirit Wear has arrived, up to and including order number 341.  Please go to the Students Council Office to pick up your order during your lunch.

STEM students can pick up their STEM spirit wear in Room 3005 this week, either before homeroom or after school.
