Hey members of NTS! Just a reminder your rehearsal this week has been changed to 3-5p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19th. See Connor Cabral or Lucca Berardi if you cannot attend.
There will be a Jack.Org meeting on Friday starting at 3:05pm in Room 3011. Please ensure you check your Jack Microsoft Teams page and respond to the forum prior to the meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Dabrowski. Have a mentally healthy day!
The 2021-2022 Yearbooks have arrived! If you did not receive your book, you can still pick it up. All student who paid their 2021-2022 student activity fee can pick up at the back of the cafeteria TODAY during both lunches. Co-op and First Period Spare students can go to the library any time throughout the day to pick up.

A reminder that registration for the Women in STEM event closes on January 20th. Registration can be made via the STEM D2L page or the QR Code located on the posters around the school.
The University of Waterloo math contests are coming up. An email was sent to all members of STEM with instructions on how to sign up via Brightspace (D2L), be sure to check your email if you are interested. If you are a member of STEM and did not receive an email, please email Mr. Page and let him know. If you are NOT a member of STEM, you can sign up with your math teacher. If you are not taking math this semester, and are not a member of STEM, email Mrs. Bednarz if you are interested. There are some great scholarships available, and it looks great on a College or University application. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Bednarz.
Today’s special in the cafeteria are tacos for $2.75 each. They are served with salsa and sour cream. We also have Chicken Noodle Soup from the steam table today as well.

Hey Lions! Our next Casual Dress Day is on Tuesday, January 17th. Students are required to bring in 2 dollars to dress casually. All money collected will support our Uniform Assistance Program and the Guatemala Encounter.

They were all their high school valedictorian. And this could be you! Deadline for the application and essay is Friday February 10th. We have close to thirty female STEM professionals visiting us that afternoon, who's occupations range from aerospace engineer to cardiac surgeon, from data strategist using AI in the mining industries to a research astronomer. We are extremely proud to say that over half of our presenters are former graduates who are willing to share their success stories. Registration closes on January 20th. Please don't miss out on this event. It will be one to remember!!! Register using the QR code on the posters or found on the STEM D2L page.

The A.C.E. Committee will be meeting during second lunch today in the chapel to continue planning for Black Heritage Month. Any interested students are more than welcome to join. Please email Gabriella Osarumwense or Myesha Khan with any questions.
The ACS 2021-2022 Yearbook is here! Yearbooks will be delivered today during first period. Yearbooks will only be given to Grade 10, 11, 12 and Victory Lap students who have paid their 2021-22 school year registration fee. Any student who is absent Period 1 can go to the back of the cafeteria TODAY during their lunch to receive their book. Students with Period 1 Spare or Period 1 Co-op can pick up their Yearbook in the Library after 1:30 today – see Mrs. Engell or Mrs. Santos. ACS Class of 2022 Graduates can pick up their Yearbook in the Main Office or have a friend or sibling pick up on their behalf.

Hey Lions! It's Neuroscience Week! The week kicks off with a trivia challenge. Grab a partner and look around the school for 12 trivia questions about neuroscience, answer them, then bring your answers to this Thursday’s meeting! Pairs who answer all 12 questions correctly will be entered into a draw to win Starbucks gift cards! Answer sheets are available outside of Room 3005. On Thursday January 12, during both lunches, we will be joined by 2 speakers, Matthew Jones and Calista Henry. Matthew Jones is a PhD student studying neuroscience at the University of Western Ontario and conducts research towards the development of anxiety medication. Give yourself a chance to witness the future in anxiety treatment! Calista Henry, part of "The Women in Western Neuroscience," speaks on the issues related being a woman in the psychology and neuroscience industry. She's involved in the community, sharing her experiences, and she's come to ACS to share with us too!

10:05am to 10:50am – Period 2
10:55am to 11:40am – Period 3
11:45am to 12:30pm – Period 4
12:30pm to 1:30pm – Common Lunch
1:30pm to 2:55pm – Christmas Assembly in the Gym
Christmas Dinner tickets will be distributed in homerooms.

Hey Lions! Welcome to Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Students are permitted to wear their Ugly Christmas Sweaters with their uniform. Tomorrow, Friday, December 23rd, is Best Dress Day/Casual Dress Day.
Just a reminder to all students interested in curling on the school team. You must contact Mr. O’Brien and let him know if you are committed to the two Saturday bonspiels by noon on Friday at the latest. If we don’t have a full team, we cannot run a team.
Today is the day for our GSA extended Christmas meeting. It will run from 11:35am to 12:20pm in the Lecture Hall. Club members need to ask their period 3 teachers if they can attend. We hope to see you there!
The Board Games Club will be meeting TODAY in the Library from 3-5pm. Everyone is welcome.
