1. Are you stressed about exams? Feel pulled in a million directions and not sure how to find some balance? Yoga may be for you! Yoga is a mindful and physical practice that can help you regulate your nervous system, improve your mobility and flexibility, and find calm. Join Mrs Charnish-Currie for 60 min of moving, breathing and calm in room 1034 Tuesdays after school. We will start next Tuesday and focus on grounding and centering strategies to help with exams. Flyers are posted by the water fountains around school- please sign up using the QR code on the flyer so we can choose the right space. Practice is open to students and staff, but students must have a signed permission form to participate! For just $5, you get a night packed with karaoke, pizza, games, and prizes—basically everything your Friday night dreams are made of. But wait, there’s more! Simple Little Artsy will be selling handmade goodies, and the proceeds will go toward Jack Chapter initiatives. Tickets are cash only and will be sold at the back of the caf on all three lunches. No tickets will be sold at the door. Look for the commotion and the ticket-sellers channeling their inner Elvis, shouting, “Five bucks, one night, all shook up with fun!” The chapter is looking forward to seeing you there!
3. A reminder for all Jack Chapter members participating in the event tonight, make sure you have bought a ticket and meet Miss. A. Dabrowski in the cafeteria after school to set up for the night. If you cannot attend right after school, please email Miss. A. Dabrowski.
4. Do you love fashion? Music? Dance? Set design and set-up? If so, we need you! ACS is collaborating with St. Vincent de Paul for our first ever Fashion Show! We are looking for students interested in helping make this event epic. If you would like to help out with walking the catwalk, music, dance, promos, or anything behind the scenes come to our first meeting on Tuesday, January 14th at 3pm in the library. See Mme. 5. Today's special in the servery will be homemade Panzerotti's cheese or pepperoni with a side of dips available for $6.30. Good news is our big belly chocolate chip cookies are finally back in stock. The bad news is our steamtable is broken, and we are having to provide more grab and go items from our hot box to accommodate the short fall. Thank your patience and your ongoing patronage.,
SPORTS:
1. The girls hockey team started 2025 off with 2 big wins. On Wednesday, the girls beat SJC 4-0. Carling Ruddell and Bri Spence scored 2 goals each. Victoria Sharp had 3 assists in the victory. Kayli Sault had a solid game in net earning the shut out. On Thursday, the girls travelled to Caledonia where they beat MPSS 5-2. Lena Powless lead the way with 2 goals, and Indie Warren, Carling Ruddell and Bri Spence each had one. Alexis Greek had a strong game in net. Great start to the new year girls!
2. Yesterday, our boy's hockey team also started off the year with a 7-3 win over North Park. Lorenzo Touri made his long-awaited debut in high school hockey and scored late in the third period. Rookies Cameron Bednarz and Seamus Pierce also scored in the third to secure the victory. Colten Curtin scored two nice goals but was unable to complete the hat trick. Next week, our boys face Holy Trinity for a chance to secure top spot in the league.

7. Exam Bus changes - Bus routes 18, 18A, 725, 730 and 733 will be leaving at 12pm on exam days. All other buses will depart regular time. Students on buses departing at regular time (after 3 pm) on exam days are encouraged to find alternate rides home.
8. Correction: The junior and senior boys' basketball teams will be playing away in Paris tonight. Come out and support our lions!

1. The senior boy's basketball team battled hard against BCI last night but came up short. Destin, Yuvraj and Ryan had an outstanding game. Andrew hit 7 threes to help the team. We will get BCI in the playoffs when it matters! Come out and support our lions on Thursday at NPC.

Happy New Year and Welcome Back to 'The Den' Lions!
1. Exciting news! The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association is proud to sponsor the Young Authors Awards once again! We're celebrating outstanding student writing from K through 12 in both English and French. Students are invited to submit their best fiction, poetry, plays, and nonfiction (up to 3000 words). Winners will progress through school, local unit, and provincial levels, with provincial winners featured in an anthology! Please submit 2 clean copies of each entry to Mrs. Engell in the Library by Friday, February 7th. Happy writing, Lions!
2. Hello members of student council, prefects and the 180 Team who volunteered to help with our Open House on January 15th! We are running a mandatory training session tomorrow during your lunch in the lecture hall. It is mandatory and there is only one training session. Any questions? 3. And the winner is...LEAP is proud to announce the winner of our December Poetry Writing Competition. Congratulations to Clara Epassa! Her submission, entitled “Stuck in the Cold”, was simply outstanding. Haunting, yet hopeful, mournful, yet reflective! Everything good prose should be! Well done, Clara! Amazing work!A shout out to our other participants: Divine Arthur, Marnie Hunsley, Isabelle Francis and Jayleen Panchi, all of whom wrote wonderful poems around the theme of the holiday season. You should all be very proud of the beautiful pieces of poetry you submitted. Great work everyone!

7. Attention students in grade 12 or 13; have you ever thought about helping someone whose life has been impacted by a natural disaster? If you have this passion, then this year's mission trip might be for you! The school board has been offering this type of mission trip to various locations in North America for over 25 years. The mission trip is a unique experience that allows you to put your faith into action. You will get the chance to work with other students from our school board for one week. The tentative location for this year's mission trip is southern Louisiana. We will be helping in the relief efforts caused by over a decade of hurricane and tornado damage. If you are interested, please pick up an application form and get more details from Mrs. Medeiros in room 1031. Applications are due back by Friday, January 10th .

1. The 2023-2024 Yearbooks are still available to those who were absent yesterday. All students who paid their 2023-2024 registration fee can pick up at the back of the cafeteria TODAY during the first and third lunches. First period Co-op, Spare and Online students can go to the Library any time throughout the day to pick up. ACS Class of 2024 Graduates can pick up their Yearbook in the Main Office and can have a friend or sibling pick up on their behalf.
2. Welcome to the last 2 days before the Holidays! Today is the Night before Christmas day. Wear Matching PJ sets (no shorts or sweatpants!). A holiday movie will be played in the lecture hall on all 3 lunches today, and hot chocolate will be sold in the caf for $1. Tomorrow is the last day before the holidays and student council has loads of fun packed into our afternoon assembly. Do you want to see your teachers play volleyball? How about sing and play instruments? Or maybe dance? Dress in your Christmas best tomorrow and come check out all the fun we have in store.

10. The senior boys basketball team added another easy win to their season against McKinnon Park. They only gave up 9 points in the first half and ran the court to put the game away, winning 83-35. Shout outs go to Yuvraj and Cicci for their hustle, Andrew and Ryan for taking the lead on points. Our last game before the break is tonight at home against PJ! Come out and support the boys!

Very sorry that our cookies are not the ones you are used too- but they were all that was in stock and unfortunately, we are stuck with them until mid-week of the first week back. 1. The 2023-2024 Yearbook is here! Yearbooks will be delivered TODAY during first period. Yearbooks will only be given to Grade 10, 11, 12 and 12+ students who have paid their 2023-24 school year registration fee. 1. Congratulations to all the delegates from this year’s quake Model United Nations. The level of debate was impressive. A special thank you to Shriyak Kashyap and Mohid Khan for their amazing leadership in running the event, and all their hard work preparing. Congratulations to the top three delegates as voted by their peers, Joshua Ocampo, Haneet Sing and Emily Wu. Well done!
2. Dearest graduates...because Edge imaging is so wonderful, they have added one more day to your graduation photos. Thursday December 19th, 2024 is the last day to take your photos. The spots will fill up fast, therefore please book ASAP on the Edge Imaging website! Thank you, Mrs. Mastromatteo.

1. Exciting news! The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association is proud to sponsor the Young Authors Awards once again! We're celebrating outstanding student writing from K through 12 in both English and French. Students are invited to submit their best fiction, poetry, plays, and nonfiction (up to 3000 words). Winners will progress through school, local unit, and provincial levels, with provincial winners featured in an anthology! Please submit 2 clean copies of each entry to Mrs. Engell in the Library by Friday, February 7th. Happy writing, Lions!
