Morning Announcements

Monday Sept. 9th, 2024

1.   Attention all grade 9s. Colour Night is THIS THURSDAY! Don't miss out on this fun evening of  games, pizza, and a dance. Tickets for this event are $7, and can be purchased on school cash online until Tuesday, September 10th at 3pm. Wristbands will be distributed to homerooms on Wednesday, but if you purchased your ticket last week you can find out your team early on the list posted on the main office windows. Ticket sales end soon so make sure to buy yours ASAP!

2.   Cross country training continues this week with practices running Monday through Thursday. Runners will meet at the picnic tables by the portables. Please ensure that you give your signed permission form to Mrs. Czaplinska-Mastromatteo or Ms. Gomez a.k.a the organized coaches. If you are interested in joining the team, please scan the QR code and pick up a permission form by the physed offices

3.   Attention all actors! ATV is hosting auditions for recurring acting roles for this year's promos and videos. Auditions will be held this Tuesday, September 10th in room 1141, right after school. Please prepare a short scene or skit to perform. Break a leg!

4.   Attention music students interested in being in Concert Band: we will have a short meeting on Monday right after school.  You must have previous experience on an instrument to be part of the band.  Looking forward to a great year.  See you Monday after school in the music room.  Please email Mr. G with any questions.  

5.   Do you like to sing? Have you been secretly humming songs between classes? Is music a big part of your life? If you answered 'yes' to even ONE of those questions then Vocal Ensemble is for YOU! We meet in the music room, #1154, for one hour, starting Tuesday, September 17th from 3pm until 4pm. ALL grades are welcome! See Mrs. Ratelband for more information!

6.   The first try out for the Jr Boys Volleyball Team will be Monday at 3:00-4:30. If interested please sign up using the QR Code outside the Phys Ed office and grab a permission form.  Any questions see Ms Ferraccioli in the female Phys Ed office.

7.   FOREEE! Attention all golfers, there will be a meeting Monday the 9th  after school for everyone who wants to tryout for the ACS golf team. This meeting is for both boys and girls teams. Please signup using the QR codes outside both phys. ed offices in the gym. You must have your own clubs to play. If you cannot attend please see Mr. Hummel or Dr. Petrella"

8.   Attention all girls interested in trying out for the field hockey team.  The field hockey tryout dates have changed slightly. Tryouts will be Mon, Tues and Thursday this week. Please sign up outside the phys. Ed office and pick up a permission form. Mouth guards and soccer shin pads are mandatory for tryouts and cleats are encouraged. For more information, come to the female phys. Ed office. 

9.   Tennis tryouts for Juniors will begin on Monday and Wednesday afterschool. Tryouts for Seniors will be held on Tuesday and Thursday next week. All tryouts will be from 3:00 until 4:30pm. Permission forms can be picked up from Mrs. O’Brien in Room 3004 any day this week

10.   Boys' varsity baseball tryouts are today at 3:30 pm at Bill Little field.  Be sure to bring your signed permission forms.  Please see Mrs. Lytle in portable 5 if you have any questions. 

11.   Do you like to crochet or knit? Do you wish to make a difference and get to know new lions? Come join the ACS Knit club run by Mrs. Cameron starting in October. 12.   Cafeteria Special           Today's special in the servery will be Homemade Macaroni and cheese with a side of garlic bread for $5.50.      Add a jet juice for $1.10- or a small water for $.80.

Thursday September 5th, 2024

1. This Friday Sept 6th is the last day to sign up for a semester 1 course change. It will take counsellors into next week before we can see the over 500 students who have signed up so please be patient and continue to follow your current schedule until you are called down.

2. Attention all grade 9s. Student council has planned a special event just for you! Next Thursday, September 12th, is COLOUR NIGHT - a fun filled evening of games, pizza, and a dance. Plus, you get to dress down all day in your team colour! Tickets for this event are $7, and can be purchased on school cash online until Tuesday, September 10th at 3pm. Wristbands will be distributed next Wednesday to homeroom classes. Want to know your team colour early? Be sure to purchase your ticket by the end of the week to find out your team on Monday. Don't miss out on this great event! Any grade 12s interested in volunteering at this event are asked to sign up on the list outside of TLC."

6. Attention senior boys volleyball players.  Tryouts will be Thursday and Friday before school this week.  Get a permission form, and scan the QR code by the boys phys ed office today.  Bring your signed permission form tomorrow, we start at 7:00  If you want to try out but are unable to attend Thursday, see Mrs. Denison today

8. The Senior Football is still looking for some recruits. We need offensive and Defensive linemen. If you want to play with the current city champs, go see Coach Nagy at the football field after school at the upper field.

9. The 2023-2024 Honour Roll recipients who were in Grades 9-11 last school year are posted in the window of the main office outside of the attendance area. If you believe your name has been missed, please report it to the main office for us to look into. Well done to those students who have achieved this level of academic success!

10. Cafeteria Special - Today's special in the servery today will be Pulled pork on a Bun topped with your choice of onions or mozzarella cheese for $6.50 add fries for $7.50.                    Freezies are available for $1.60.

Grade 12 write their final exam today from 9am until noon on the third floor.  If students need to access their lockers on the third floor, they may do so quietly.  Good luck to all our Grade 12s writing exams today. 

Attention all students studying French or Italian. It is not too late to register for the 2025 March Break trip to France and Italy! See any French or Italian teachers if you are interested

Attention all STEM members!  Please check the Brightspace page for a end of year survey!

Students who wanted to take a summer school course are asked to please complete their registration ASAP. Thomas Merton closes Friday at noon. Toronto Catholic's July session is already closed, and their August session is due to your counsellor by Monday, June 24th.

Any students who had Mrs. Lytle for Grade 11 English LAST YEAR, please email her a copy of your Into the Wild essay if you still have it handy. Thank you!

Attention Lions.  All lockers must be cleaned out by noon on Wednesday, June 26th.  Please remember to take your lock with you for the summer.  All items left in lockers after the 26th will be donated to charity or thrown out.  Thank you for your help with our lockers.

Lions, please ensure that you return the textbooks that were assigned to you at the beginning of the semester.  All textbooks need to be returned by the day of your exam.  If you have lost your textbook, please talk to your teacher about plans to reimburse the lost textbook.

Attention Lions.  The following bus routes will be leaving at 12:10pm during the Grades 9 to 11 exam days.  Bus Routes 18, 18A, 725, 730, 733.  All other bus routes will be leaving at their regular scheduled times.

Today’s special in the cafeteria will be a cheeseburger or chicken burger and fries, topped with your choice of tomato, onions, pickles, and lettuce, for $6.75.  The cafeteria staff wishes you all a safe and fun summer!  See you in September!
