1. On Friday during period one, we have a speaker coming in to talk about the trades. If you are in grades 11 or 12, please visit Mrs. Martello in Student services to sign up for this trades talk.
2. To all CWAYC debate club members, old and new, this week's debate will take place Thursday after school. The location has changed. Please meet in room 1013 instead of the lecture hall. Please email Mrs. Flanagan if you have any questions.
3. Dance Team Auditions will be held Wednesday, October 2nd from 3-5 on the stage in the caf. Register using the QR code outside of the Drama Room and pick up a permission form from Mrs. Boschman. Please wear comfortable clothing to move in and a water bottle. Email Mrs. Boschman if you have any further questions.
4. Please be advised that all current and new members of the Latino Club will be meeting on Friday morning at 8:15 a.m. in room 1035. Any questions please reach out to Mr. Bender or Ms. Cassano."
5. The Gay-Straight Alliance, also known as the GSA, is having their first meeting today. This meeting is for anyone committed to making the school a safe and inclusive space for ALL students. There will be three different meetings in 3 different spaces, so pay attention: The Grade 10 meeting will be held during first lunch in Portable 15. The Grade 9 meeting will be held during second lunch in room 2060. The Senior meeting will be held during third lunch in room 1141.

10. They did it again!!! Yesterday, the ACS golf team repeated as AABHN champions! Congratulations to all of our students who excelled on the course and demonstrated tremendous sportsmanship. The coaches are so proud of their effort and for securing ACS's first AABHN championship this year! Congratulations to Ty Tischler (tied for lowest score), Adam Bednarz, Morgan Pelts, Johnny Laferriere, Matt Maclean, Lyra Hill, Addison McIntosh, Indie Warren, and Jasmine Splatt. The team advances to the CWOSSA championships next week in Owen Sound
11. Rugby 7s players will be practicing today at 3:50pm and Friday right afterschool, please ensure you have mouthguards and signed permission forms. New members of the Cross Country who need to purchase a team shirt, please talk to Mrs. Czaplinska- Mastromatteo or Ms. Gomez.
12. In boys’ varsity baseball’s opening week, the boys saw a loss of 9-3 against SJC but went on to beat the T-Birds 5-3 in their following game.

1. There will be an IMPORTANT YEARBOOK CLUB meeting today after school in room 2028. This meeting is for PAST Yearbook Club members ONLY. New club members will be welcomed at future meetings starting in November. Keep listening to morning announcements for upcoming meeting.

2. Calling all dancers! If you are interested in auditioning for ACS's Dance Team, please come and see Mrs. Boschman at the back of the cafeteria on all three lunches Monday for audition information and dates. The Dance Team will run from Fall until Spring and will require a minimum commitment of at least one after school rehearsal per week. We will also perform at Pep Rallies and compete in 1-2 high school dance competitions.
3. Our ACS Prefects are proud to serve you, our lions, this semester. Today marks the official start to our FREE Homework Help, Tutoring, and Mentorship services. If you'd like be paired with a Prefect to get some help with a class you're struggling in, or you'd like to chat with them and find out how to get more involved at our school, please go to STUDENT SERVICES to grab an application, fill it out, and return it. Our Prefect team will review your application and begin the process of pairing you with one of our ACS Prefects.

2, Hey Lions! Amplify your Culture is back to ACS this year and will be held on October 7th during period 1. Every year Mrs. Torto's Social Justice class runs this special event to help enhance the culture of our school. So, if you LOVE your culture and would like to promote it to the school - this event is for you! We politely ask you to come to our first meeting on Friday September 20th. We will meet in the lecture hall during all lunches. so come out if you are interested and want to learn more. As a token of appreciation, participants will be invited to a free movie night after school the same day as Amplify. Hope to see you then!
3. It was a hard-fought battle last night, as the Sr. Lady Lions took on the SJC Eagles. Both teams came out to win which was evident with the low final score of 30-27. Although our lady lions had trouble sinking baskets, they dominated defensively, denying SJC opportunities to score. Their fierce attitude is a testament to their love for the game and to their commitment to our team. This is going to be an exciting season! Shout outs go to Arhyanna, Lakyn and Mereina. Wish our girls good luck as they head to Western University this weekend for a tournament
4. Last night the junior girls’ basketball team had an outstanding comeback against a very strong St. John’s team. Trailing by as much as 16 the girls took over the second half of the game. Taking the lead for most of the third and fourth quarter. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold on at the end and lost 44-46. Sienna Luciani lead the team with 13, Coralyn Towers with 10 and Halle Hawkins had 8. Sunita Tiwari and Ali Arseneau played great inside! The girls play next on Thursday at 4:00 in the lion’s den!

1. LEAP's first meeting is today, all three lunches, in the Lecture Hall. Come up, right at the start of lunch and In 15 minutes you will learn everything about LEAP and all the amazing opportunities. Get ready to leap into LEAP!!!!
2. Any grade 9 students interested in joining student council should see Ms Ristov in TLC at lunch to pick up an application form. Applications are due no later than next Friday morning.
3. Attention all new and returning STEM members: our first meeting will be this Thursday, September 19th at lunch in the lecture hall. Bring your lunch and a Loonie for a lanyard. We can’t wait to see you there!

You do not need to bring anything with you. Once the photos are ready, you will receive information about how to order online.
5. The Sr. Girls Basketball team got a start on their season last night, dominating Paris by more than 40 points. Erin Banting was solid on the boards while also putting up 11 points. Arhyanna Petrella added 10 points to the total as well. Great job lions! We are back on the road on Thursday to play SJC.
6. Last night the junior girls basketball team defeated Paris 60-7. A strong team effort was too much for the panthers,as the girls allowed only 1 point in the first half. Kate Kostiuk and Sunita Tiwari scored 12 points each to lead their team. Taya Sindrey had 6. Congratulations on a great game team! The girls travel to SJC on Thursday at 4:00 to play a strong st John’s team! Come out and support your lions!

If you are an Indigenous student in Grades 9 – 12, you have an opportunity to participate in this FREE event where you can learn more about the skilled trades from experienced Indigenous tradespeople and community organizations from Brantford and Six Nations. The event will run from 9AM to 2PM on September 25th. Transportation and lunch will be provided free of charge, and you will have the chance to win some great prizes. If you are interested in participating in this event, sign up in Student Services by Friday, September 20th.

2. Wednesday September 18th is Dress Down day for Charity. All proceeds will go to the Six Nations Food Bank. Students choosing to Dress Down are to bring $2 to homeroom and recieve a bracelet to indicate they have donated $2 to Dress Down for the day. Please remember ACS is an accademic institution and a dress code still applies, so dress appropriately for school. If you choose not to participate in Dress Down day, No Problem! Please be sure to be in full uniform as usual.

12. Romeo, Romeo where art though Romeo? He's at the Stratford Festival! Join us on Oct 9th to see the Stratford Festival's production of Romeo and Juliet. First come, first serve as tickets are selling quickly. See Mr. Agnolin in the staff room in period 1 or Ms. Morissette in portable 2 for field trip forms.

1. Say cheese! Picture Day is this Thursday, September 19th. Please listen carefully to the announcements throughout the day as you will be called down to the gym alphabetically by your last name. You do not need to bring anything with you. Once the photos are ready, you will receive information about how to order online.
2. This weekend the junior girls traveled to Conestoga College for their first tournament. The team played 3 tough games losing to a strong Ursuline College who ended up winning the tournament. Halle Hawkins was named a tournament all-star. Coralyn Towers, Ali Arseneau and Sienna Luciani played well for the team. Manuela Stavale had a great defensive weekend! The girls start league play tomorrow at 4:00 in Paris! Good luck ladies!
3. There will be an IMPORTANT YEARBOOK CLUB meeting tomorrow, Tuesday September 17th, after school in room 2028. This meeting is for PAST Yearbook Club members ONLY. New club members will be welcomed at future meetings starting in November. Keep listening to morning announcements for upcoming meeting dates.
4. The enrichment group for history and geography, known as CWAYC, is proud to announce that debate club begins this week. Do you love to argue and debate? Come out and join CWAYC. There will be an information meeting in the lecture hall after school on THURSDAY for ALL NEWCOMERS with details about how Parliamentary Style debate works. The first debate of season will take place later this month. See the CWAYC bulletin board outside student services, and posters up around the first floor, for details. All newcomers aged 12-24 are welcome to join each Thursday from 4 -6 p.m. It’s free to join and no commitment is necessary. The first hour is dedicated to gym use and the second hour is for social activities. 1. Attention grade 9s. Colour Night is TONIGHT from 3-8pm! Here a few reminders for the event:
- At the end of the day, please place your belongings in your locker, and make your way immediately to the cafeteria to find your team. Grade 12 leaders will be there to help direct you. Please bring a water bottle and wear athletic footwear.
By now you should have your wristband with your team colour. You should be wearing this wristband today, and for the whole evening. If you did not receive your wristband yesterday, please speak to your homeroom teacher. Any additional questions or concerns can be brought to Ms Ristov in TLC at lunch.
- A reminder that this is a closed event. Re-entry will not be permitted for any student who chooses to leave the school early. As well, any students who are not participating in the event are asked to please leave the school at the end of the day and not to linger.
2. The guidance department is hosting a mandatory gr 12 meeting today during your period 2 Gr 12 class. If you have an online class, non grade 12 period 2 course or spare in period 2, you are to report to the lecture hall for the meeting.
