Welcome Back Lions!  We hope you all had an awesome March Break!

Attention all girl's rugby players. We will be meeting for the first time Tuesday after school in the lecture hall. Our intention is to focus on learning more about the game of rugby, but please bring athletic attire just in case. Signed forms will also be collected at this meeting. Please see Mrs Ristov, Mr Hummel, or Mr Kozina if you are not able to attend.

There is an updated badminton list posted outside of the male Phys Ed office. There will be a practice TONIGHT after school from 3pm-4:30pm. 

Our next Spirit Wear Day is this Wednesday, March 23rd.

All students are welcome to join us for French Club this Thursday in the lecture hall!  Come and listen to our guest speaker talk about his experiences growing up in France.  Please eat your lunch first before coming to the lecture hall. First lunch presentation will begin at 11:50 and 2nd lunch presentation will begin at 1:10. See you there!

Dear Lions, do you like knitting or crocheting? Would you like to meet new friends, support various social justice initiatives, and learn how to knit or crochet? ACS is starting a Knitting Club and we hope to meet during lunch or after school depending on availability. No previous experience is needed. Email Mrs. Cameron if you're interested. We would love to have you aboard.

Boys' varsity soccer sign up is now available outside the male Phys Ed office. Don't forget to take a form located underneath the sign up sheet. 

All girls who are interested in playing soccer this year are asked to please sign up outside the Girls Phys Ed office.  You must also hand in a permission form by the end of the week. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Ferraccioli, Mr. Martorelli, or Mr. Petrella.

Attention, Gr. 9s & 10s!  TODAY is your FINAL CHANCE to compete in the annual Canadian Geographic Challenge!  The school winner will represent A.C.S. at the provincial winner, with a chance to then move on to the national competition.  A.C.S. has been there before, and this could again be our year! Please visit the Library Brightspace page for further details and to submit your entry.  May the best geographical thinker win!  Good luck!

Attention all STEM members! This Friday, during both lunches, STEM welcomes back former Lion, Zac Shapardanis. Zac has recently graduated from Trent university studying Biomedical Science and is looking to enter the Canadian Armed Forces to continue his Master work on Cognitive Psychology. Don't forget every STEM visit earns you a point towards the AP Certification presented upon graduation. For more information, please contact Mr. Page in Room 3005.

Hey Lions! I don't need to tell you that today is the last day before spring break, but I do want to remind you to pop in to the library today to borrow a good book to read over the break. We have a number of great books on display and you can borrow any one of them. Better yet! Why not try a Sora eBook over the break? All you have to do is download the Sora app from your app store, select Brant Haldimand Norfolk as your school and start borrowing today. We have over 400 eBooks and audiobooks to choose from. There will be a Boys Rugby meeting TODAY during both lunches in Room 3028.  Interested players are to attend during their designated lunch.

Attention any girls interested in joining the Rugby Team this Spring. There will be a brief but important meeting TODAY at 11:35am in Room 1087. Grade 10 and 12 students, please ask your 3rd period teacher if you can briefly step out of class at this time. It should only take about 5 minutes. Any students not able to attend the meeting should reach out to Mrs. Ristov in person or by email before the end of the week.

Attention, Gr. 9 and 10, Lions!  The C.W.A.Y.C. team would like to invite you to test your geographical thinking in this year’s Canadian Geographic Challenge. This is an annual Geography competition to test high school students’ knowledge of Canada and the world.  Plus, you can earn AP Points in the process! The school winner will go on to represent Assumption College School at the provincial level this spring and may continue to advance to the national level too.  Assumption has made it to the national level before, and this could be YOUR turn! If you would like to participate, please visit the Library Brightspace page this week to complete the linked 50 question multiple choice quiz.  All results must be submitted prior to 11:59 pm this Friday (March 11th).  Please note that you only get one attempt to earn a top score, and you must complete the quiz in one sitting.  Also, please note that you may NOT seek help or access any additional resources as you write.  You will also need to use the Microsoft Edge browser—NOT Google Chrome—to ensure you can see the embedded images in the quiz. A quick reminder that many Scholarship and Bursary applications will be due in April and May-  March Break is a perfect time to decide which ones you will apply to.  Please take the time to check the Scholarship Chart found on your Grad Info D2L page under Content.  Make sure you check the need for reference letters and ensure you give staff of Assumption or any other adults at least 2 weeks to provide a letter of reference for you.  If a transcript is required, please provide Mrs. Dickson in Student Services with the email address it needs to be sent to in a timely manner so it can be sent electronically. Remember to apply to scholarships you are eligible for, and even though you may only be awarded with a limited number, it's free money that people in our community are willing to invest in your educational future, so take a chance and apply!

Hey Lions! Our Next Casual Dress Day is on Wednesday, March 9th. Funds collected will go towards Ukrainian Humanitarian Relief.

There will be a Junior Badminton tryout after school TODAY from 3pm-4:30pm. There will also be a senior badminton tryout on Wednesday from 3pm-4:30pm.

CWAYC (QUAKE!!!!!!) is proud to announce that we are ready to assemble our 2022 Mock Trial Team.  This is a chance for students to present a case before a real judge in an Ontario court room.  You will work as a team as you compete against other students from our community and try to bring home the coveted Provincial Championship once again to A.C.S.  You will earn invaluable experience, receive professional coaching, and attain AP Points for participation.  If you are interested in participating as either a lawyer or by taking on the role of a witness in a court case, you are asked to please sign up on the list posted outside of the Library today.  You will need to take your own pen! The next Junior Badminton tryout will be next Tuesday, March 8th.. 

The moment you have been patiently waiting for has arrived.  The ACS Prefect Program is recruiting new members and we look forward to meeting you.  Join us in the Lecture Hall ON YOUR LUNCH on Mon. March 7 for a 30-minute information session where you can pick up an application package and learn how to become a Prefect to help others through: Homework Help, Mentorship, and Daily School Operations.  Remember, for every minute you serve as a Prefect, you earn a community service minute.  We only recruit once per year, and this is your opportunity to join the ACS Prefect Team.   See you on Monday, March 7th in the Lecture Hall during your lunch and bring a friend!

Hey, Lions!  Are you dreaming of a career in Law?  Do you aspire to show off your rhetorical skills and quick thinking in a real courtroom?  Or perhaps, are you an aspiring actor and looking for a way to step into a role and be challenged in a brand new way? CWAYC (QUAKE!!!!!!) is proud to announce that we are ready to assemble our 2022 Mock Trial Team.  This is a chance for students to present a case before a real judge in an Ontario court room.  You will work as a team as you compete against other students from our community and try to bring home the coveted Provincial Championship once again to A.C.S.  You will earn invaluable experience, receive professional coaching, and attain AP Points for participation.  If you are interested in participating as either a lawyer or by taking on the role of a witness in a court case, you are asked to please sign up on the list posted outside of the Library today.  You will need to take your own pen! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Birka.  More info to follow!

Great news Lions!  The cafeteria food services is reopening TODAY.  Please make sure you stop by the caf to check out the great selection of food to be purchased.   

Vocal ensemble is cancelled for tonight and will resume next Tuesday, March 8th.

Just a reminder to STEM members that there is a STEM council meeting being held after school in room 3005. Everyone is welcomed!

Senior Badminton tryout will take place on Thursday morning at 7:30am.

It is a very special week at Assumption College.  The Class of 2022 will cast their votes for the Valedictorian who will represent the graduates at the ceremony this June. Those 335 graduates who have paid their $75.00 fee to participate will, on Wednesday morning, receive an email from Mrs. Fergus with the link to cast their ballot.  The election will open on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 9:00 am.  It will also close at 4:00 pm on the same date. To cast your vote, please click on the link and select the ONE candidate you wish to elect.  The candidates are listed alphabetically by their last names.
