Hey Lions!  Our next Casual Dress Day is on Thursday, May 26th.

A reminder to the Girls Fast Pitch Team of TODAY's practice at 3:15pm at Lions Park.  Please see Ms. McDade if you cannot attend. 

The Jr. tennis team will be practicing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week as we prepare for our tournament on Friday. If you are unable to attend, please notify Mr. Bednarz or Mrs. O'Brien, and pick up a tournament permission form in room 2003. See you on the courts!

A message from Mr. Page to all STEM members.  Reminder that you will need sign up and grab a ticket to attend the presentation on Thursday May 26th. As there are limited seating in the Lecture Hall and only a single presentation, tickets will be distributed on a first come , first served basis. Our guest is Dr. Juliet Daniel, cancer researcher from McMaster University and promoter of diversity in STEM. Everything starts at 11:35 and should take about an hour. Tickets are located just outside of Room 3005. See Mr. Page if you have any questions.

Listen Up Grade 12's: Prom is almost here!!! If you purchased a Prom Ticket, please check the table seating arrangements OUTSIDE of Ms. Braga's classroom (Room 1008) by this Thursday. If you wish to make any changes to your seating, you MUST do so at the back of the cafeteria during second lunch on Thursday, May 26th. This will be your ONLY opportunity to make changes to the seating arrangement.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Braga or Ms. Martello.

There will be a Prom Committee meeting tomorrow - Wednesday, May 25th - in the Library reading room during second lunch.

The long weekend is finally here! Let's  get outside and enjoy the sunshine and join in the “Walk 1,000 Steps for Life Challenge!”.  It is taking place this weekend, from Saturday to Monday. You choose one day to walk 1,000 stops or more.  Invite your family and friends to walk with you and add their steps into your total. This is not an organized group activity. You can walk on your own or invite your friends and family along with you and boost your total number of steps walked.  Use your electronic device such as a Fitbit, cell phone, etc. to record your walk of 1,000 or more steps then please take a picture of yourself and your electronic device, showing that you have completed your 1,000 steps. Email the picture to the chaplain Mrs. Sheldrake or d.m. to her instragram at acs chaplain.  Our goal is to beat our last year's total which is 322,020 steps. Let's do it! There will be an ACE meeting today at first lunch in the library reading room. The focus will be planning for Culture day.  Anyone interested in attending today’s meeting is welcome, even if they aren’t a part of ACE.

Attention Lions! Do you like running? Well how about free stuff and a chance to support those in our community who need it most? Then consider signing up for this years Brantford Classic taking place on Sunday June 5th. You can run or walk to support a great cause and yes, there are prizes too. There will be a quick info session in the lecture hall at the beginning of both lunches TODAY or you can see Ms. Denison, Ms. Beccari, or Mr. Kozina (aka Jordan) for more details. Let’s walk (or run) for those in need.

Coffee House is back Lions! Need an excuse to hang out with friends, eat snacks, and enjoy some great live entertainment? Coffee House is the place to be! Come on out this Thursday and see all the talent our school has to offer. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased in the cafeteria at both lunches this week for $8, or for $10 at the door. Seating is limited so make sure to get your tickets early! 

Attention members of the boys' baseball team. Our final tournament of the season starts  tomorrow morning. Players need to be at Millcroft Park, which is located at 4520 Millcroft Park Drive in Burlington,  at 10 am on Friday. Players should bring a light lunch since there will not be any time between games to leave the diamond to go for lunch. Players should also bring plenty of water and sun protection since the weather is expected to be sunny and hot. Players should bring both their blue school jerseys and their grey t shirts. Any player that needs a ride to Burlington should speak to Mr. Annear to make transportation arrangements. 

Students and Staff – The weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend. Let's get moving! Participate in the 3rd annual “Walk 1,000 Steps for Life Challenge!” Last year Assumption walked a whopping 322, 020 steps, equaling 246 km! “Walk for Life” is this weekend, from Saturday to Monday. You choose one day to walk 1,000 stops or more.  Invite your family and friends to walk with you and add their steps into your total. Use your electronic device such as a Fitbit, cell phone, etc. to record your walk of 1,000 or more steps then please take a picture of yourself and your electronic device, indicating that you have completed your 1,000 steps. Email the picture to the chaplain Mrs. Sheldrake or d.m. to her instragram at acs chaplain. See the poster outside of the chaplain's office and at the back of the caf on the bulletin board beside the fountain.

Hello Lions! As many of you know, migrant workers have arrived to help out on our local farms. A couple of students decided that they wanted to put together some welcome bags to gift to a small farm in our area. Tuesday and Friday in the caf, we will be selling handmade buttons! Come out and support a great cause!

Attention all CWOSSA Track and Field Athletes. If you have not yet confirmed your ride to PJ this afternoon or tomorrow morning, you need to see Mr. P or Ms. Ferraccioli immediately following announcements this morning.  Cabs have been ordered to leave the school at 12pm today and at 8:15am tomorrow morning.  Be sure to let Mr.P or Ms. Ferraccioli know if you still require transportation to PJ.  Good luck to all our athletes competing at Track and Field today and tomorrow.

The GSA is meeting TODAY in the Drama Room during first lunch and the Lecture Hall during second lunch.

Grade 12 & 5th year Specialist High Skills Major SHSM students in Manufacturing, Sport, Hospitality & Tourism, and all of the Arts should be in the small gym NOW for their mandatory First Aid & CPR session.

The schedule for the rest of the week with the addresses for the diamonds in Ancaster on Tuesday and Burlington on Friday is posted on the team page in Brightspace. Any player that needs a ride to the park should contact Mr. Annear to make transportation arrangements. Players should bring both the blue school jersey and the grey t shirt and ball cap to the tournaments in Ancaster and in Burlington.

Attention Lions! Please come by the back of the caf at lunch today to pick up a beautiful seedling flower for $2.  All donations will be used to buy some small gifts to send to various orphanages around the world. If you don't need the flower, please feel free to make a donation to this awesome initiative. 

Attention members of the boys' baseball team. We will be playing in a mini tournament in Ancaster at Matt Krol Field on Tuesday May 17. Players need to be at the diamond by 8 am on Tuesday. If any players needs a ride to Ancaster, he should speak to Mr. Annear to make transportation arrangements. The updated schedule is posted on the team page in Brightspace. Players are also reminded to come to portable 1 in the morning to pick up your t shirt and ball cap if they have not done so already.

-The James Robert Lefler Memorial scholarship application for STEM students is also found on the D2L page and is due by midnight Monday to the dropbox found under Assignments.

If any players needs a ride to Ancaster, he should speak to Mr. Annear to make transportation arrangements. The updated schedule is posted on the team page in Brightspace. Players are also reminded to come to portable 1 in the morning to pick up your t shirt and ball cap if they have not done so already.

-Advance ticket sales will continue online until Wednesday night, and in person until Thursday lunch. A reminder that tickets at the door will be increased to $14 and are available to ACS students only.
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ticket, your ACS student card, your empty water bottle, and to dress in bright or white! Outfits should follow regular school dress-down guidelines. If it can’t be worn to school, it can’t be worn to the dance! 
-Doors open at 6pm on Thursday. Please remember that lockers will not be accessible during the dance. Coat-check will be available. Looking forward to seeing you there! 

Paris District high school is hosting a Rainbow Ball for members of the LGBTQ2S+ community and their allies. Thursday, May 19th from 7-10 pm. Transportation to and from this event Paris will be provided and running from ACS. The cost is $10 to be paid through School cash online. Interested students must pick up a permission form in Student Services TODAY. The deadline to return your permission forms to attend is tomorrow.  

Hello Gr 12 Students!  We will start selling Prom tickets TODAY until the 19th of May.   There is a limited number of tickets available.  Prom will be held on Saturday, June 4th at Hamilton's Marquis Gardens. We will start selling tickets at the back of the cafe, near the library, during second lunch only.  You can pay for your $60 ticket either with cash or ahead of time with School Cash Online.  In order to use the online payment option, please bring your receipt to our ticket selling table to pick up your physical ticket.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Braga or Ms. Martello.  

Attention all athletes and coaches, you don't want to miss this!! The Annual ACS Athletic Banquet is back! This is a special night where we honour our athletes, MVP's and Athletes of the Year. It takes place on Wednesday June 8th in our cafeteria. Dinner is provided and catered by Mercasa and there are many door prizes to be won! Doors open at 6pm. Tickets are available for $20 in the female phys. ed. office. Get your ticket before they sell out!

The lunch special in the cafeteria today Thursday May 12th Pulled pork.  Try it as a sandwich or a poutine just $5.50. 

Grade 12 students are reminded that two NEW STEM scholarships are due this weekend.  
-The ACS Alumni STEM scholarship Google forms application can be found on the Scholarship chart on your Gr 12 Guide page and is due by midnight Sunday.
-The James Robert Lefler Memorial scholarship application for STEM students is also found on the D2L page and is due by midnight Monday to the dropbox found under Assignments.

The GSA will be meeting in the Drama Room during 1st lunch and the Library Reading Room during 2nd lunch. Don't forget your money and permission forms for the Rainbow Ball, which are due today.  

If any members of the girls soccer team need transportation to the game please let Mr. Martorelli know so we can arrange cabs. 

Tennis practice is cancelled tonight.  We will resume practice on Thursday afterschool for Junior and Senior players.

A reminder to all Boys Lacrosse players.  Practice is Thursday after school.  Attendance is mandatory as the next set of games are Monday May 16 at McKinnon Park. 

Attention members of the boys' baseball team. We have been invited to a tournament in Ancaster next Tuesday, May 17. Please contact Mr. Annear, either in person or via email to indicate your availability to play in Ancaster next Tuesday. Also, the team T shirts and hats are in. See Mr. Annear in portable 1 during the morning to pick up your uniform parts.

1.those students who applied for the Mabel and Gordon McMillan Scholarship will have their interviews on Tuesday.  Interview times and questions to prepare will be sent to your school email later today.  

2. Did you know you are only 7 weeks away from final exams- 6 weeks for grade 12 students?? Now is the time to ask your teacher if you have any missed work to catch up on, do the work, get it handed in plus ensure that you have completed all assigned homework.  Remember to turn your phone off for a couple of hours every day and focus on your courses uninterrupted. You're coming up to the final stretch Lions-  "Dreams don't work unless you do work!"
