Glow dance is this Thursday lions! A few reminders to keep in mind before the big day:
-Advance ticket sales will continue online until Wednesday night, and in person until Thursday lunch. A reminder that tickets at the door will be increased to $14 and are available to ACS students only. The final day to sign in outside guests is TODAY, so don’t forget to get your tickets asap.
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ticket, your ACS student card, your empty water bottle, and to dress in bright or white! Outfits should follow regular school dress-down guidelines. If it can’t be worn to school, it can’t be worn to the dance!
-Doors open at 6pm on Thursday. Please remember that lockers will not be accessible during the dance. Coat-check will be available. Looking forward to seeing you there! "

Prom will be held on Saturday, June 4th at Hamilton's Marquis Gardens. We will start selling tickets at the back of the cafe, near the library, during second lunch only. Happy Catholic Education Week, Lions!
May 5th has been commemorated as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Across the nation, we are called upon to wear red to acknowledge thousands of young women and girls who go missing each year. Students may replace their uniform tops with a red shirt TODAY.
Attention all girls trying out for the Fast Pitch team. There is a tryout TODAY at 3:30pm at Lions Park.
Could the Cheerleading team please see Mrs. Kandilas in portable 5 at the end of the day for a quick meeting!
There will be a brief, 10-minute meeting for any students interested in trying out for Junior or Senior Girls volleyball next year. We will meet at the beginning of both lunches in the lecture hall on TODAY. If you aren’t able to attend the meeting in the lecture hall TODAY, please email Mr. Bender to let him know.

Members of the boys baseball team should be excused from class at 9:40 this morning and are expected to be at Bill Little Diamond by 10 am to prepare for our 1st game today against Paris District High. Players are reminded to bring a light lunch as there won't be much time between games today. Players should also be aware that tomorrow's game against Mackinnon Park at George Henry Diamond will now be played at 1 pm. Players should leave for the park after the end of period 2 tomorrow.
A reminder that any students or family members who have moved to Canada in the last ten years are invited to the Newcomer Family Dinner and Social tonight in the cafeteria beginning at 5:00 until 6:30. This is a great way to learn more about the community and connect with others. The first fifty families will receive a twenty five dollar gift card and there will be food and prize opportunities for everyone. See you there.

This group calls themselves ‘Nova Initiative’ and designed a bulletin board filled with information about their project outside the office to help support Nova Vita. This board shares information about Nova Vita, Nova Initiative, and how you can help! Be sure to check out this board and grab a pamphlet anytime between today Monday May 2 to Friday May 6th.

CAMP PHOENIX is providing a unique opportunity for females ages 14-18 years old to experience what is it is like to be a firefighter. You will experience hands on training in fire suppression, search and rescue, auto extrication, first aid and more! This camp is NO charge and takes place at Cainsville Station on 27 Ewart Ave on MAY 5th at 6-8pm. Please look for flyers around the school for additional information.

Attention all Track and Field Athletes. Tomorrow, Wednesday May 4th is our first Track and Field meet beginning at 9am at PJ. If you have not already confirmed your commitment to compete, or still require a permission form and schedule for the day, you need to see Mr. P immediately following this morning’s announcements. All students that qualified for the events they signed up for have been entered into the meet for Wednesday. We need to verify your commitment to participate and arrange transportation if needed. Be sure to see Mr. P in the gym right after morning announcements. Practice is after school today, weather permitting!
Grade 12 students! Remember to sign up for your grad retreat taking place on May 31st at Camp Marydale. The cost is $25. You MUST register by May 16th at the chaplain's office and pick up your permission form.

On Tuesday May 3rd, our ACS senior French students have the opportunity to participate in the DELF. This certification involves an oral interview as well as tests in reading, writing and listening comprehension. Successful students will receive an official DELF DIPLOMA which is recognized internationally and is a testimony to the candidate's accomplishments in obtaining proficiency in French. We wish our ACS DELF TEAM “Bonne chance et Bon Courage”!
Attention members of the ACS boys' baseball team. We will be having batting practice today after school at Bill Little Diamond at 25 Spalding Drive. Players are reminded that the activity fee and uniform fees must be paid today in order to be eligible to play in tomorrow's double header. Players are to be excused from class at 9:40 in order to be at George Henry Diamond by 10 am on Tuesday morning. Players should check the team site on Brightspace for important information and schedule updates.
Any track athlete that has signed up for a field event and qualified for the 100, 400 or 1500m races must come to the male or female Phys Ed office and confirm they are planning to participate in the Debbie Miller Classic Meet on Wednesday. There is a roster posted please take a look and confirm your events!

Coaches Viera and Annear would like to thank all the boys that tried out for the team. A Boys Baseball course shell has been installed on Brightspace for players to view our season schedule and receive updates. We will be having a batting practice on Monday after school. The location of the practice will be determined over the weekend and indicated on Monday morning's announcements. Players are reminded that they need to pay the activity fee and uniform fee by Monday in order to be eligible to play in our first game on Tuesday morning against Simcoe Composite.

Likewise, due April 29th are the Brantford Regional Real Estate Association's scholarship application and the Brant Men of Song for students going into music programs- both to be submitted to the email provided on your D2L Gr 12 Info page Scholarship Chart.
Students with Financial need are reminded that applications for the Stedman bursary are due to Student Services by the end of the school day April 29th or online April 30th. Only students who have and had their guidance counsellor complete their part already will be accepted at this point.

Don't forget Lions that our next Sprit Wear Day is on Thursday, April 28th.
If you haven't heard, it's opening night for "The Addams Family" tonight! If you haven't gotten your tickets it's NOT too late. You can get them online at assumptionlions.com or at the door. Tickets are $15 for students and seniors and $20 for adults. It's gonna be a scream!
There will be an ACE committee meeting today at second lunch in the Lecture Hall. New members are welcome.

Attention all track athletes. If you signed up for an event for the school meet you must attend a mandatory meeting TODAY at the beginning of your lunch in the gym. Attention members of the Boys' Baseball team. We will be practicing after school TODAY at Lions' Park from 3:15pm until 5:30 pm. This will be our last practice before the season starts next week. Players are reminded that they need to pay their activity and uniform fees prior to the start of the season to be eligible to play.
Attention all girls interested in trying out for the fastpitch team. There will be a very brief meeting Friday at the beginning of your lunch in the small gym. The tryouts will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:30 at Lions Park.
There will be a brief, 10-minute meeting for any students interested in trying out for Junior or Senior Girls volleyball next year. Grade 12 students! Sign up for your grad retreat taking place on May 31st at Camp Marydale. Buses leave Assumption College at 9am and return by 3pm. Enjoy a day of outdoor group activities and a barbeque lunch. The cost is only $25. Don't forget Lions. The OSSLT will be written on Tuesday, April 26th and Wednesday, April 27th. Only those students writing the OSSLT are to attend on their specified day. Special Education classes are also running on these days. All other students are to engage in ASYNCHRONOUS learning at home.
Due to the OSSLT, our next Sprit Wear Day has been moved from Wednesday, April 27th to Thursday, April 28th.
A reminder to Girls Rugby players that our bus to Waterford is leaving at 1:30pm this afternoon. Period 3 teachers, could you please dismiss these players at 1:20pm so they have time to gather their things before we leave. Players on lunch at that time, please watch the time so you are ready to go at 1:30pm sharp.
Attention all students who have signed up to tryout for the ACS Track and Field Team. Next practice is today at 3:15pm. Attendance is mandatory for those that wish to participate. Event competitions will take place on Friday April 29 starting at 12pm. Please check out the schedule outside the boys Phys. Ed office for the events that require a try-out. Attention all AP exam writers! There will be an important meeting in the lecture hall today at 1:00pm. Students who are unable to attend today's meeting will be rescheduled on Monday morning at 9:00am in student services. You will receive an appt slip if you need to attend Monday's meeting. All students who are involved in the tree planting are allowed to dress down for the day on Thursday April 21. A list of attendees has been emailed to teachers. Students are asked to wear proper, covered footwear and assure that they have long sleeve pants, and a sweater etc. We will be outside so dress appropriately. You are welcome to wear a mask if you wish. Please also consider bringing a pair of gloves if possible. A reminder that you will have a very simple lunch provided but please bring your own water. Students are asked to be released at the end of period 2 and quickly proceed to the busses near the tennis courts, no later than 11:45am. Attention Specialist High Skills Major "SHISM" students in grade 12 and up- your MANDATORY first aid and CPR training will be run over 2 full school days this spring.
