1. Have you noticed the Christmas tree on the second floor near the chapel? This beautiful Christmas tree is called the TREE OF HOPE! We set this tree up every year to help with our Pennies from Heaven Campaign. As you can see, the tree is filled with ornaments that have a gift card request written on them. If you feel that you can help one of our school families with one of these generous gift card donations, please remove the tag from the tree, buy the gift card, and return them together to the main office. Every gift card collected will go to the families that we support through our Pennies From Heaven Campaign. Thank you for your support!...and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
2. Don’t forget that Tim Horton’s hot chocolate will be sold at lunch today. Thursday and Friday, fresh hot popcorn will be sold. Bring cash. All proceeds will support Pennies from Heaven.
3. Hey Hey Homerooms! Listen up! The Final Pennies from Heaven classroom collection will happen this FRIDAY. The Social Justice students will be coming around to each class to collect the containers of money. Teachers, please excuse the interruption to your class time as we hope this will only take a few minutes. Remember, we will count the money and record it for you!

5. It’s finally here! The Christmas Concert is TONIGHT! High-calibre musicianship for the low low cost of FREE! ALL are welcome – friends, family, staff, and students. Doors open at 6:30 and the concert begins at 7pm. Our theme of hope is needed now more than ever. We HOPE to see you there! Donations are welcomed.
6. POINSETTIA PICK UP!!!!! Attention all students and staff who ordered POINSETTIA’s. Pick up day is THURSDAY Dec 5th at the end of the school day. Please come to the gym at the end of the day to pick up your orders. If you sold a lot of plants, please ensure you have a ride home to get them home safely!!!!
7. The Brant County OPP has a great opportunity for some of our students grade 10 and older to apply! They are running a Citizen Youth Academy from January to March. The Academy meets on Wednesdays from 7 – 9 PM and topics covered include K-9 unit, tactical response, forensics, collision reconstruction, etc. Applications are in Student Services and due by Dec 6th. Please see Ms. Martello in Student Services for more information and an application form!
8. "The Semi-Formal Dance is THIS FRIDAY lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales for ACS students will continue on school cash online until Thursday or until the dance sells out. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. Students attending the dance, please keep the following in mind. No resold or traded tickets will be accepted at the door. On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID. We will be using the student entrance for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 7pm to 8pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. The theme of the dance is Nutcracker Candyland. Dress to excess in semi-formal attire! Outfits do not have to be nutcracker themed, but should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School. Looking forward to seeing you there! "

12. Attention all swim team members! Our first competition is tomorrow! A reminder to please check your emails for important information from Ms Ristov. Be sure to meet at the Wayne Gretzky Centre tomorrow morning at 9:30am.
13. The GSA is meeting today in portable 15 during first lunch, 1154 during second lunch, and 1141 during senior lunch.
14. Mrs. Cameron’s classes are creating art pieces for 2 nursing homes and Stedman hospice. If any ACS student or staff would like to create an artwork (Christmas theme) and/or write a card and drop it off in room 1004, we will add it to this charitable cause. We hope to drop off the artworks with cards before Christmas. (hold up an example of poinsettias we are doing).
15. ACS Knit Club our meeting is after school from 3-4 in room 1004. Bring your finished projects. Thank you for all you do. New members are always welcome. Email Mrs. Cameron if you wish to join. Yarn donations can be dropped off in room 1004.
16. Today's special in the servery will be Pulled Pork on a bun Topped with Mozzarella cheese and onions for $6.50 add a bit of fries for $7.50. Pulled pork Poutine for $7.00. Cinnamon buns available for first break.
Sports
1. Junior girls volleyball team played an amazing game last night against BCI. With their quick thinking and great defense skills the team was able to bring home yet another win in just 3 sets! Wish the girls luck as they play Paris tomorrow. Shout outs go to Jordyn, Avery, and Kara.

1. Have you heard? The Christmas concert is TOMORROW! One more sleep to hear amazing music from the guitar, vocal and gr.9 instrumental classes PLUS the Vocal Ensemble and Concert Band! This year’s theme is the message of hope. The concert is in the cafeteria and starts at 7pm. It’s FREE, however, we are accepting donations to support the Music Program. We HOPE to see you there!

Calling all athletes interested in joining the Junior & Senior Badminton Teams, please pick up a permission form by the male physed class and ensure you fill out the QR code by the female physed office. The first practice for the Juniors will be Thursday morning at 7am and Seniors will practice Friday at 7am.
5. Ticket sales are now available for this year’s Nutcracker semi-formal! The event will take place this Friday, December 6th , from 7-10pm. Tickets for ACS students can be purchased for $15 on school cash online, and guest tickets can be purchased at the back of the caf on all 3 lunches. Today is the last day for guest ticket sales! This event is popular and tickets are selling fast. There are only 100 tickets left, so get yours today!

2. Graduates: You’ve had your meeting. You have your information booklet. Now you have to do 2 things. #1 Register to graduate using the link on the Grade 12 D2L page. and #2: Pay to participate using School Cash On-Line. Deadline is December 6th. That’s only 4 school days away
3. Attention curlers. Our first tryout will be today after school at 3:30. Make sure you bring clean shoes, all of your paperwork, and the tryout fee with you.
4. ACS book club meeting and potluck is today. If you missed this morning’s meeting, we will have another one after school today at 3:05pm in the Library’s Innovation lab. Both meetings are the same. Hope to see you there!

6. Great News! The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association is excited to announce the return of the Young Authors Awards! This event celebrates outstanding student writing from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in both English and French. Students are invited to submit their best works of fiction, poetry, plays, and nonfiction (up to 3000 words). Winners will progress through school, local unit, and provincial levels, with provincial winners being featured in an anthology! Please submit two clean copies of each entry to Mrs. Engell in the Library by Friday, February 7th. Happy writing, Lions!

8.The senior boys basketball team added another win to their standings last night, beating PJ 84-25. It was a quick start from the lions securing the lead and denying PJ in the paint. Shout outs go to Andrew and Hilton who led scoring and for putting up a total of 35 points. Come out and support the boys on Tuesday as they play BCI. Juniors play at 4 and seniors at 5:30.

4. The City of Brantford is hosting a free drop-in Youth Mental Health Resource Fair on December 6th from 4:30-6:30 at T.B. Costain-SC Johnson Community Centre.

7. Lions, did you know ACE is putting on a bracelet workshop outside the library today during all lunches? There is a humanitarian crisis in Congo. We need your support. You can make one bracelet for $3 or two bracelets for $5. All proceeds are going to U.N. refugee agency to help 1000 of people in need fleeing their homes due to increase violence. Your support is appreciated.

Bring or buy lunch and dress warm as we are walking a large campus. Arrange for alternate pick up after school in case of traffic on way home.

SPORTS:
1. On Monday, our boy's varsity hockey team won their first game of the season, defeating BCI 3-1. Justin Floresco had a strong game in net, making a few big saves, while Brady Marr, Talon Harrington and Tristan Schlatman did the scoring. The boys are back at it on Thursday when they play Paris District, and hope to continue their hot start.
2. The senior boys basketball team had a solid start to their season last night dominating McKinnon Park 85-24. Destin and Ryan had a great defensive game. Although Zagham missed his first 3 layups, he still took home 12 points. Emanuel made his 18 points look effortless. This is going to be an exciting season. Come out and support our boys on Thursday at 5:30 against PJ.

2. The City of Brantford is hosting a free drop-in Youth Mental Health Resource Fair on December 6th from 4:30-6:30 at T.B. Costain-SC Johnson Community Centre.

10. A big congratulations goes out to the senior girls basketball team who competed at OFSAA last week. The lady lions lost two close but arguable games on the first day. After their next two wins, they advanced to the consolation finals but came up short. What an amazing season for the girls, winning cities and taking the CWOSSA championship as well. A big shout out goes to the seniors; Audra, Arhyanna, Venecia, Jessie, Molly and Maddie, who won ACS 4 AABHN championships. It was an excellent season from the “youngs” as well. The team finished with an overall record of 35-7. Your coaches are very proud of you all!

2. Lions, have you noticed the Christmas tree on the second floor near the chapel? This beautiful Christmas tree is called the TREE OF HOPE! We set this tree up every year to help with our Pennies from Heaven Campaign. As you can see, the tree is filled with ornaments that have a gift card request written on them. If you feel that you can help one of our school families with one of these generous gift card donations, please remove the tag from the tree, buy the gift card, and return them together to the main office. Every gift card collected will go to the families that we support through our Pennies From Heaven Campaign. Thank you for your support!...and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
