To celebrate Black History Month, we will be having a "Throwback 2000s" Casual Dress Day on Thursday, February 23rd. Staff and students will be encouraged to wear clothing from the early 2000s. This is a free Casual Dress Day.
Attention ACS Knitting Club members. Our next meeting will be taking place TODAY from 3pm to 4pm in Portable 17.
Unfortunately, this Thursday's Book Club and LEAP virtual presentation with Kate McLaughlin has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
STEM will be hosting a presentation on Thursday by the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), where Astronaut Jeremy Hansen will be sharing his story with us. The event runs from 1:00pm to 1:45pm in the Lecture Hall and will require a permission slip to attend as there is limited seating. Drop by Room 3005 to pick one up ASAP.
STEM Olympics will start on Monday Feb 27th and run until Mar 2nd, during both lunches. Teams of students (max 4) from each grade compete against their peers in four consecutive events. There will be prizes for each daily winner as well as the crowning champions. Sign up begins today!

This training is only for grade 12 SHSM students. If you are in grade 11 and enrolled in a SHSM you will receive first aid training next school year.
A special contest for all students is happening right now in the Library. It's called Blind Date With A Book! For the rest of February come to the Library and unwrap a book and create a Poem using the book you selected. The best poem will win an Amazon gift certificate. Rush to the library today before all the Blind Date Books are gone. LEAP members who enter the contest will receive a LEAP point. Contest closes March 1st.
Today’s special in the cafeteria will be Grilled Cheese and Fries for $5.00, Mac and Cheese for $5.00, and Cheese Ravioli with Red Sauce for $5.00. Just a reminder that there will not be meat in the caf today due to Ash Wednesday. There are lots of other choices – come on in and see.

As such we are running a poster contest. Your poster should take up approximately 2/3 of a 8 ½x11” page, because there will need to be room for writing on the poster. The graphic should evoke inspiration, hope, and change through technology. We are excited to see what you come up with! Due date: Thursday March 9, 2023. If possible, please use Adobe to create the file, and please save as a Vector File. For more information or to submit a drawing, please see Mr. Page in Room 3005.

Registration Presentations for the 2023-2024 school year will take place today for Grades 9, 10, and 11. Students in Grade 12 wishing to return for a 5th year will have an in-person meeting during period 1 in the cafeteria on Tuesday, February 14th. It is very important to submit your course registrations in on time to ensure you are registered for the courses you want for next year. More information will be presented today in the grade level meetings.

If any student needs to see their guidance counsellor regarding semester 2 schedule changes, you must come to Student Services and sign-up for an appointment. Schedule changes require an in-person appointment and will not be done through email. The last day to sign-up for schedule changes is Wednesday, February 8th.

TODAY, Canadian author Judy Lin will be speaking about her White Pine nominated novel, A Magic Steeped in Poison and about the writing process in general. You will have the opportunity to ask Judy questions directly. Even if you haven't read the book, there is something for everyone. All students are welcome. LEAP members will receive points for attending. Please sign up in the library at the circulation desk. The presentation is at 12 PM in the Reading Room on February 8th.
