Researchers have estimated that even a 1% increase in literacy rates could benefit Canada’s economy by $54 billion every year. So, Lions, let’s help share the joys of reading in our community!

Coffee House is the place to be! Come on out Wednesday November 17th and see all the talent our school has to offer. Open to students and staff of the ACS community. Would you like to showcase your talent at this year’s coffee house? Auditions will be taking place Thursday November 4, from three to four o’clock after school in the library. Yes, that’s THIS COMING THURSDAY! Sign-up sheets will be posted outside of the library in order to sign up for a time slot. Auditions are to be 5 minutes max, so come prepared with your tracks, instruments, voices, and A-game! Come show off your talents and have tons of fun in the process! Hope to see you all there Lions.
Have you always wanted to start up your own business? The JA Company Program is offering an exciting, hands-on experience where you get to build a business with a group of students from various high schools throughout southwestern Ontario- ONLINE! Along with a team of volunteer business advisors, you will design, organize, and operate a real company. Sessions take place weekly from mid-November until early April, Monday Tuesday or Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Set yourself apart from the competition, sharpen your skills and develop an edge that employers are looking for. The first Grade 11 OSSLT Prep Lunch Session will be held today in the lecture hall at 12:50pm. Please arrive on time. There are several lunch sessions planned and Grade 11s can sign up on the OSSLT Brightspace page.

ATTENTION LIONS! Do you have any spare books stashed around your house? This year, ACS is having a book drive. Bring your novels, children’s stories, comic books, and anything else you can think of, to the donation box located right outside the library! Your donations will be given to those who lack the financial resources to buy books, so that more people can practice reading and writing. Only students that submit a parent consent form will be allowed to get their vaccination. Consent forms have been sent out electronically to our ACS families. If you would like to be one of our 2 nominees for the Queen's Chancellor Scholarship, sign up for an interview in Student Services by noon Friday. Interviews will be next week and you will be contacted with details about your interview.
Are you a community leader with over 75% average, attending post-secondary in Fall 2022 and a community leader? The TD Bank Scholarship for Community Leadership is up to $17,500/yr. The application can be found on your Gr 12 D2L page and is due by November 15th.

Do you have an interest in global issues? Are you passionate about history, geography or even drama? Do you follow current events? The Model UN is the perfect event for you. During this full day debate, you will represent a nation of your choice and defend that country’s position on a world issue. Sharpen your public speaking skills and learn to think on your feet while answering questions from other delegates. Applications can be found on the brick wall at the back of the cafeteria or outside of room 1013. This is a first come first serve event as spots are limited. Your placement is guaranteed if applications are turned in by October 22nd. We hope to see you there! See Mrs. Flanagan in room 1013 or grade 12 students Spencer Bradford and Molly Neal if you have any questions.

This card must be presented at the gate before entry. Also, only students of the participating football teams will be allowed entry into the field. For example, if ACS is playing BCI, only ACS and BCI students will be permitted in. We hope that these measures will help in creating a more enjoyable experience for our spectators. Thank you for your support.

Do you have an interest in global issues? Are you passionate about history, geography or even drama? Do you follow current events? The Model UN is the perfect event for you. During this full day debate, you will represent a nation of your choice and defend that country’s position on a world issue. Sharpen your public speaking skills and learn to think on your feet while answering questions from other delegates. Applications can be found on the brick wall at the back of the cafeteria or outside of room 1013. This is a first come first serve event as spots are limited. Your placement is guaranteed if applications are turned in by October 22nd. We hope to see you there!
