Our WE SCARE HUNGER Campaign is going on this week. If our school can collect 3,300 canned good for the SSVP, students will be awarded an additional Casual Dress Day on Friday, October 29th. Let's go Lions! Bring in a canned good and scare hunger away!

The first Grade 11 OSSLT Prep Lunch Session will be held today in the lecture hall at 12:50pm. Please arrive on time. There are several lunch sessions planned and Grade 11s can sign up on the OSSLT Brightspace page. 

The Gay Straight Alliance or GSA meeting is cancelled today. Instead, we will be meeting FRIDAY during grade 9 lunch in the Library Fishbowl for the Halloween party! Treats will be organized through the Discord App. Don't forget your costumes!

Do you love Hallowe'en?  Come on out to the photo booth for the Addam's Family during your lunch on Friday, Oct. 29th and get a picture in your costume with your friends!  Simply write down your email and your photo will be emailed to you.  Go lions!

ATTENTION LIONS! Do you have any spare books stashed around your house? This year, ACS is having a book drive. Bring your novels, children’s stories, comic books, and anything else you can think of, to the donation box located right outside the library! Your donations will be given to those who lack the financial resources to buy books, so that more people can practice reading and writing. So, come on Lions, let’s bring those books down to the library! 

Congratulations to the 30 students successfully accepted as delegates for this year's Assumption College Model UN assembly.  Delegates, please check your email today for a message from the executive team.  We can accommodate up to five more students.  If you missed the application deadline, please see Mrs. Flanagan in 1013 as soon as possible.

This Friday, October 29th, the Brant County Health Unit will be hosting a second COVID vaccination clinic from 9:30am to 10:30am in the front of the cafeteria.  Only students that submit a parent consent form will be allowed to get their vaccination.  Consent forms have been sent out electronically to our ACS families. Consent forms are due to the main office by Thursday.

Attention students and teachers involved in our SHSM Specialist High Skills Major Program:  if you have any applications to be submitted, please hand them into Student Services before 3pm Thursday, October 28.

Attention grade 12 and over students:  
Are you planning to apply to University of Toronto next year and have excellent grades?  The U of T National Scholarship application is due in November.  See the Scholarship Chart in your Gr 12 D2L page for details. 
 
Are you planning to apply to Queen's University next year, have over 90% average and leadership experience?  If you would like to be one of our 2 nominees for the Queen's Chancellor Scholarship, sign up for an interview in Student Services by noon Friday. Interviews will be next week and you will be contacted with details about your interview.

Are you a community leader with over 75% average, attending post-secondary in Fall 2022 and a community leader? The TD Bank Scholarship for Community Leadership is up to $17,500/yr. The application can be found on your Gr 12 D2L page and is due by November 15th.

The Grade 12 College and University Workshops will occur today and tomorrow at 9:00am in Grade 12 Period 1 classes. Students not in a Grade 12 class or on spare can join the meeting in the Lecture Hall.

ACS is looking for talented singers and musicians to join our worship band; we are looking for vocalists, guitarist, a bassist and drummer! if you are interested, please come see (and sign up) with Mr. Vieira in room 1035 next Monday October 25th & or, Tuesday October 26th! Spots are limited, so if you are interested, please come sign up!

In honour of this very inspirational man, we are starting an Instagram challenge. Please share our Library Instagram post and tag @therock to hopefully get Dwayne Johnson’s attention. The Library username is @assumption_library. Did you know the Rock is Canadian? Stop in and ask one of your Library Staff today and while you’re in the Library check out one of the many Dwayne Johnson biographies on display. 

Any students who live in Caledonia and are interested in taking the Punjabi credit are asked to see Ms. Evans in the main office as soon as possible.  There will be free transportation from Caledonia if enough students sign up.,  Please see Ms. Evans if interested.

TODAY is Clubfest.  Classes will have the opportunity to walk through the cafeteria to see all the clubs offered at ACS.  We encourage students to sign up and get involved.  Make sure you bring a pen!

Attention ACS Football fans! The Athletic Association of Brant Haldimand-Norfolk now requires students attending games to have a current Student Card.  This card must be presented at the gate before entry. Also, only students of the participating football teams will be allowed entry into the field.  For example, if ACS is playing BCI, only ACS and BCI students will be permitted in. We hope that these measures will help in creating a more enjoyable experience for our spectators.  Thank you for your support.

CWAYC (quake) is proud to announce that this year’s A-C-M-A or Assumption College Model United Nations Assembly will take place on Friday December 3rd in the Lecture Hall.  Do you have an interest in global issues? Are you passionate about history, geography or even drama? Do you follow current events?  The Model UN is the perfect event for you. During this full day debate, you will represent a nation of your choice and defend that country’s position on a world issue.  Sharpen your public speaking skills and learn to think on your feet while answering questions from other delegates.  Applications can be found on the brick wall at the back of the cafeteria or outside of room 1013. This is a first come first serve event as spots are limited. Your placement is guaranteed if applications are turned in by October 22nd. We hope to see you there! See Mrs. Flanagan in room 1013 or grade 12 students Spencer Bradford and Molly Neal if you have any questions.
