Attention ACS staff and students. Thursday is Rock Your Mocs day at ACS. Students and staff can replace their shoes and wear moccasins. If you do not have moccasins, you must wear regular uniform shoes.

The GSA or Gay Straight Alliance is meeting in the Lecture Hall today. For this quad, we will be meeting during Grade 10 Lunch, which starts at 12:10pm.

TODAY our Remembrance Day Liturgy will take place virtually immediately following announcements. Every student in our school will also receive a poppy. All donations collected will support The Royal Canadian Legion, who cares for all those who have served our nation. As members of the Legion, they show their thanks by supporting and advocating for Veterans, by remembering their sacrifices, and by continuing the tradition of service in helping our communities. Students are encouraged to bring in a looney or twoonie on as a donation for your poppy.

The ACS Student Services team recommends you research now to determine due dates for applying to their schools. They may require entrance exams, documentation from ACS, letters of reference, etc so don't compromise your chances of admission by missing due dates or scrambling at the last minute.

ave you ever wondered, what is the poppy campaign for that leads up to Remembrance Day? All of the donations collected for the poppy fund go directly to support our Canadian Veterans and their families within our own community locally and to help ensure Canadians ‘never forget’ the sacrifices they made for us. Every student in our school will receive a poppy on Thursday morning. Students are encouraged to bring in a looney or twoonie on Thursday as a donation for your poppy.

Are you having trouble reading and writing in class? You’re not alone. More than 1 million children in Canada are currently reading and writing below their grade-level. To help more kids feel comfortable at school, let’s share our resources by donating our old books to the donation box outside the library. Children’s stories, novels, biographies, comics, and all other books are welcome! If you are personally in need of reading, or writing support, try ACS' Prefect services, or contact the library!

The ACS Jack.Org Chapter will have their official Welcome Meeting TODAY after school in the lecture hall. The meeting will be approximately an hour in length to go over the agenda for the year. ATTENTION LIONS! Did you know that 42% of Canadian adults are currently failing basic literacy tests? This means that almost half of Canada can’t read, write, or speak well enough to excel in the future. To help remediate this issue, bring any spare books you have to the donation box outside the library. Your donations will help struggling kids practice their literacy skills, to create a smarter Canada for the future!

The boys leadership group will be meeting in the Reading Room of the Library at 11:30am. Students who are interested in joining can come to the meeting to find out the “why” and “what” the group is doing this year.

Does learning a Second language seem impossible? It’s easy when you hear it every day. The government of Canada is offering free opportunities for students to have an exchange experience in French. Come to the lecture hall on your lunch next Monday, November 8 to learn about the possibilities.

Coffee House is the place to be! Come on out Wednesday November 17th and see all the talent our school has to offer. Open to students and staff of the ACS community. Would you like to showcase your talent at this year’s coffee house? Auditions will be taking place Thursday November 4, from three to four o’clock after school in the library. Yes, that’s THIS COMING THURSDAY! Sign-up sheets will be posted outside of the library in order to sign up for a time slot. Auditions are to be 5 minutes max, so come prepared with your tracks, instruments, voices, and A-game! Come show off your talents and have tons of fun in the process! Hope to see you all there Lions.

The ACS Jack.Org Chapter will have their official Welcome Meeting on Friday after school in the lecture hall. The meeting will be approximately an hour in length to go over the agenda for the year. If you would still like to join the chapter please email Ms. Dabrowski ASAP as she will need the numbers attending this meeting. For existing members, please check your Microsoft Teams as a new Team was created for all Jack chapters in our school board and all information will be posted in the BHNCDSB Jack.Org Chapter Team. The JA Company Program is offering an exciting, hands-on experience where you get to build a business with a group of students from various high schools throughout southwestern Ontario- ONLINE! Along with a team of volunteer business advisors, you will design, organize, and operate a real company. Sessions take place weekly from mid-November until early April, Monday Tuesday or Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Set yourself apart from the competition, sharpen your skills and develop an edge that employers are looking for.
