Attention all girls interested in trying out for the fast pitch team.   Please sign up outside the female Phys ed office by signing the QR code and picking up a permission form.   The first tryout is Monday after school. Please meet at the tennis courts at 3:10pm. 

Attention all students going tree planting. The busses are full!  Please ensure your name is on the bus list by the end of the day today.  The lists can be found outside 3005 and on the QUAKE board beside student services.  If you are unable to go on Monday, please let Mrs. Walsh, Mr. Page or Ms. Torto know by today as there is a waiting list!

This message is for grade 9, 10 and 11 students who wrote the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat Math contests.  The results are in.  If you would like to see how well you achieved, please see Mr. Stec in portable 21 during second lunch or after school.  Congratulations to all who participated, and we hope to see you next year!

Reminder to the over 80 students who will be participating in the Tree Planting trip on Monday.  Dress for the weather and wear layers, please wear boots - no open footwear.  Bring water to drink and remember there is a sandwich for lunch but bring snacks if you require them. We go RAIN or SHINE so be prepared!  An announcement will be made to ask you to leave class at about 11:30 on Monday.  YOU MUST BE IN FULL UNIFORM UNTIL IT IS TIME TO GO AND YOU ARE CALLED TO LEAVE CLASS. YOU WILL HAVE 5 MINUTES TO CHANGE!

Hey Lions, did you know the Monday, April 22nd is Earth Day and we've got something super cool planned!  We're asking all of you awesome students to help us out by collecting plastic bottle caps.  You know those little caps on top of your water bottles or soda bottles? Yup, those are the ones we're talking about! Instead of throwing them away, bring them to school!  You can leave them with your homeroom teacher everyday next week and someone will come and pick them up.  Let's show our planet some love and help keep it clean and green!

Attention Grade 11s! The time has come!  The Religions and Humanities Department has organized a trip for all students enrolled in Grade 11 World Religions to Toronto. The exploration will take place on Thursday May 2nd, and it will be all day!  Students will be leaving Assumption at 9AM and coming back in the evening. Please ensure to arrange a ride! The cost of the trip is $25 which includes transportation and tours! The deadline to hand in your forms and contacts is Thursday April 25th, so sign up quick to secure your spot!!!  If you would like to pick up a permission form or would like more information, please see Miss Dabrowski!

And finally, we have some exciting news Lions!  Chris & Cruz competed at CWOSSA badminton yesterday in Kitchener. They started off great winning back-to-back games. In their third game they lost a tough matchup to one of the best boys' doubles team in the province. They quickly bounced back winning the next 4 games to secure 2nd at CWOSSA. They will compete at OFSAA in Barrie on May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  Congratulations Chris and Cruz on this awesome accomplishment!

We are currently creating a large scale blanket with stitched squares as we hope to raise awareness of any social justice issue you feel need to be addressed in our school community and/or the world. We will create awareness with QR codes with yarn display in the month of June: this is called yarn bombing. Despite its name, it has gained popularly around the world as a social justice platform for change. Give your voice and educate others! Email Mrs. Cameron with issue you wish to share with your fellow Lions.

Attention all students going on the ACS Arts New York City trip in May! There is an important meeting that you MUST attend TODAY on your lunch. If you have first lunch, the meeting will be in Room 2015. If you have second lunch, the meeting will be in Room 2028.

There will be an IMPORTANT Yearbook Club meeting TODAY afterschool at 3:05pm in Room 2028. 

The Varsity Boys Soccer team will practice TODAY after school outside behind the portables. All team members and red shirts are expected to attend.

The Chess Club will meet after school TODAY in Room 2023. All are welcome to attend, but those interested in the tournament must report their travel situation to Mr. Stec after school.

Attention Vocal Ensemble members: we will meet on the stage, in the Drama Room for rehearsal tonight. Then we will move back to the Music Room and finish at 4:20pm.

Hello ACS knitting club.  This is a reminder of our weekly meeting TODAY from 3pm to 4pm in Portable 17. Snacks are provided as well as transportation if necessary.  If interested, please check the school website for more details or the bulletin board in TLC.

Did you know that earth day has its own flag and theme song; the flag was created in 1970 by peace activist, John McConnell and the song was written in 2013 by Indian poet Abhay Kumar.  That's right Lions, Earth day is coming up and we are preparing to celebrate! Things you can do include:
- You can check out our earth day board near the library, 
- You can plan ahead to participate in the recycled art contest on April 15 during both lunches
- You can head out with your teachers to clean up a section of west brant on April 23rd - don't worry teachers, and email is coming soon.  Thank you Lions!

Attention all athletes interested in trying out for the ultimate frisbee team. The first tryout is for grade 9/10s and it is TODAY after school.  The first tryout for grades 11/12 is tomorrow, Wednesday at 3:15pm.  All interested participants need to scan the QR code to sign up and bring a signed permission form.

The Chess Club will meet in Room 2023 after school today. All members interested in participating in a tournament in May should attend the meeting for more information.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team will practice TODAY and Thursday after school. Plan to be outdoors but be prepared with footwear and clothing for indoor as well. Please contact coaches Cassano, Ferraccioli and Hynes if you have any questions.

Attention Vocal Ensemble: please turn your forms in to attend the rehearsal at the Sanderson Center on Tuesday, April 9th. A reminder that we are leaving from the music room entrance by the field at 12:20pm. If you cannot attend the performance on Tuesday, April 30th at 7pm, then you need not attend the rehearsal. Members of the Junior and Senior Badminton teams need to check in with their coaches in preparation for the AABHN tournaments this week. Juniors play at ACS on Wednesday and Seniors at St. John's on Thursday. All athletes need to be at their tournament locations for 8 am. Good luck Lions!

Attention students going to see "Les Mis" on Wednesday, April 10th, please make sure to board the bus early as we leave no later than 8:30 am. If your bus arrives after that time then you must find an alternative way to arrive to the school. Those who are traveling from Caledonia please try and carpool together. Message Mrs. Ratelband if you have an issue arriving to the school early.

Attention Business SHSM Students:   Permission forms for the upcoming April 11th trip to Brantford Laurier can be picked up in Room 2006 or 2010 from Mrs. Perkins.  Forms must be returned signed by Friday, April 5th to secure your spot on this trip.  Please check your email for additional details.

Attention all Health and Wellness SHSM students, there is a Forensic Pathology Presentation on Friday Apr 5 in lecture hall during 4th period.  Attending presentations is part of completing the requirements for your SHSM designation. Please inform your period 4 teacher before coming to presentation.

Students interested in participating in the Mock DECA challenge are asked to see Mrs. Perkins in Room 2006 after school any day this week.  You can register as an individual, with a partner, or a group of 3.  You can also select your area of interest from topics like Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing.  We will take registrations until this Friday.  The Mock DECA competition will take place at the end of May.  Please email Mrs. Perkins or see her in Room 2006 with any questions.

Coffee House is back Lions! Join us on April 17th for an evening of musical performances, snacks, and fun times for all. If you are interested in performing at this event, please email a short video showcasing your act to Ms Ristov no later than 4:00pm on Friday, April 5th.

Attention Grade 12 students. This is a reminder that the deadline for online payment for the grad retreat is May 6th, just a month away. Enjoy a day outdoors near the lake at beautiful Camp Marydale in Mount Hope. A barbeque lunch is included and transportation. The cost is only $25. Also pick up a grad retreat permission form available in a folder outside of the Chaplain's office.
