Morning Announcements

This Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day.  This is a celebration of moments of kindness, empathy, and understanding that can mean so much to children impacted by bullying.   On Wednesday, students may replace their uniform top with a pink shirt.

Attention STEM members, today is the last day to sign up for the STEM Olympics. The four day event starts on Thursday!

Grade 10 students! Today is the day to sign up to be leaders for the Grade 9 retreat sessions this semester. It's a great opportunity to begin leadership. You must attend a mandatory training session TODAY in the Chapel at Grade 10 lunch. Bring your lunch with you and arrive promptly at the beginning of your lunchtime. That's in the Chapel today.

There will be a Yearbook Club meeting TOMORROW (Tuesday) after school. The meeting will start at 3:05pm in Room 2028. Yearbook Club will meet EVERY TUESDAY after school. New and past members are encouraged to come! 

Attention Lions! Assumption Cares will be changing lives right here at ACS this April.  To find out how you can get involved, come to the lecture hall this Wednesday at both lunches for our big kickoff.

All girls interested in trying out for the ACS Varsity Soccer Team please sign up using the QR Code outside the female Phys Ed office and grab a permission form. Our first try out date will be announced soon! 

Hey Lions!  Our Prefect Program is recruiting new team members and we’re looking for you!  If you’d like to learn more about Prefect, what we do, and how to join, stop by the LECTURE HALL on Monday March 4th during your lunch.  Don't forget to bring your lunch and a friend while attending our mandatory information session and to pick up an application to join.  Applications are limited, so don’t delay.  We look forward to meeting you on MONDAY, MARCH 4 in the LECTURE HALL during your LUNCH.

Any students interested in applying to join Student Council, please pick up an application from the Main Office this week. These applications are open to all grades and will be due after March Break.

A reminder to all Grade 12 students - if you are requesting a Letter of Reference from a staff member PLEASE remember to fill out the Letter of Reference request form found on D2L.  Remember to allow a minimum of 2 weeks for the staff member to complete the letter.

Attention graduating students and grade 13's, just a reminder to check the grade 12 D2L page frequently for scholarship opportunities.  Several deadlines are fast approaching that you don't want to miss.

Course Registration for the 2024-2025 school year are now past due.  During Period 4 TODAY (not period 1 due to the elementary musical), students are asked to return their Signed Course Selection sheets and their School Cash Online Receipt to our secretarial team in the cafeteria.  Students are only to be released from class if they have shown their teachers the two pieces of paper required for registration.  

There will be a meeting for the Black Heritage Month fashion show this Friday, February 23rd in the gym from 3-5 pm. All those interested in participating in the fashion show during our BHM assembly are welcome to attend.

Attention ALL Grade 9 and 10 students! You are invited to compete in this year's Canadian Geographic Geography Challenge!  Our school-level competition will be held THIS FRIDAY February 23rd during Period 4 in the library. Sign-up today on the QUAKE bulletin board beside Student Services to join the competition and for more information!

Attention all STEM members, here is a STEM presentation NOT to be missed. Our next guest is former Lion Greg Rell this coming Friday. He works for Universal Entertainment in Florida and builds Roller Coasters!! In 2011 he moved to Singapore to build the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure before moving back to Orlando to engineer such rides as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, King Kong, and Hagrid's Magical Motorbike Adventure. His new project is Universal's new theme park called Epic Universe! Come see how coasters are designed, watch some cool videos and lose yourself in the ride.  Dismissal times are 11:20 & 12:40, Don't be late!

Senior Boys Rugby training will begin TODAY in the Gym after school. Please ensure you bring a signed permission form. If you still need a permission form, you can get one by the Male Phys Ed office.

Attention Lions!  Our next Casual Dress Day will be on Wednesday, February 21st.  Students are required to bring in $2.00 to dress casually.  All proceeds collected will go to the Save a Family Program and Development & Peace.

The meetings for returning and new retreat leaders for the Grade 9 retreat sessions this semester are taking place tomorrow, Wednesday on both lunches in the Chapel. Grade 11 & Grade 12 students who are interested are to come promptly right away at the beginning of your lunchtime. Did you know it's Freedom to Read week? It is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, a guarantee under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Some of the most controversial books in history are now regarded as classics. Come to the library today to sign a pledge to protect your freedom to read and to learn more about this event and some of the banned books from history.

Today’s special in the cafeteria will be a Popcorn Chicken Mashed Potato Bowl with chicken, corn, mozzarella, and gravy for $6.25.  Popcorn Chicken alone is $5.25 or add fries for $7.25.  Have an awesome day Lions!

The returning Gr 12 Meeting will take place right after announcements TODAY in the Lecture Hall.  Remember Gr 12s, this is a MANDATORY meeting if you are hoping to return for another year.  

Attention Students in Gr 9, 10 or 11 - if you were absent on Tuesday and missed the instructions for registration, please attend a Registration Presentation in the Lecture Hall at 10:30am TODAY. Important: you must go to period two for attendance and to get permission from your teacher prior to coming down to the Lecture Hall.

Attention all female rugby players. Your first tryout will be at 7:15am am on Friday, February 16th in the Gym. Please bring your signed permission forms in order to participate. If you do not have a form, see Mr. Hummel in Room 1087 at the end of the day.
