Reminder that there's an ACE meeting today, first lunch in Portable 1 and second lunch in Room 1003, new members are welcome!

The 2022-2023 Yearbooks are still available! Students who paid their 2022-2023 Student Fee can pick up at the back of the cafeteria TODAY during both lunches. First period Co-op, Spare and Online students can go to the Library any time to pick up. Class of 2023 Grads can pick up in the Main Office or have a friend/sibling pick up for them.  

Are you needing to get into the Christmas spirit? Why not come to the music Christmas concert TONIGHT at 7pm in the cafetorium? It's FREE! however, we're asking for non-perishable food items to help those in need. It features concert band, vocal ensemble, guitar, instrumental and vocal classes plus soloists! Call time for all performers is 6:30pm in the Music Room. See you there!

There is a volunteer opportunity to help the food bank. If you are interested, please come to student services at your lunch today and speak with Ms. Coene for more information. 

Senior Badminton will be Friday Morning at 7am. Junior Badminton continues next Tuesday at 7am. More permission forms are available by the male Phys Ed office and need to be signed for you to participate. 

Hey Lions! Student Council is proud to introduce the 12 Days of Spirit! Every day until Christmas Break, Council has planned exciting activities, games, and theme days to bring us into the Holiday season. Today is DAY 1 and marks the start of the Christmas Card Decorating Contest. Homeroom classes will be provided with paper to create a giant Christmas Card for a chance to win prizes for their class. Details have been emailed to staff and cards will be judged during the final two days before the break. Get decorating! May the best class win! Tomorrow is Christmas Hat and Accessory Day, so come prepared to show off your spirit.

Christmas Holidays are fast approaching, and Student Council has exciting plans for the last day before the break. Shortened classes in the morning, a turkey dinner lunch, and our Spirit of Christmas Assembly in the afternoon. There is plenty of fun to be had by all! The turkey dinner lunch costs only $5, but must be purchased in advance on school cash online. Vegetarian and Halal options are available. Sales will occur from Thursday, December 7th to Sunday, December 17th. Don't miss out on this delicious opportunity!"

Attention staff and students who ordered Poinsettias.  The plants will be here ready to be picked up Wednesday December 6th at the end of the day.  All students and staff must come to the gym.  If you have a lot of plants to deliver, ensure you arrange for someone to pick you up after school.  All plants must be picked up Wednesday.  Thanks again to all staff and students who supported this fundraiser!

 The CWAYC model United Nations is taking place on Monday December 11th.  Delegates, your preparations should be well underway.  Help sessions are available this week on Tuesday and Thursday after school, in the library.  Remember to check your email regularly.  See you Monday!

Attention Vocal Ensemble, a reminder your rehearsal is extended from 3pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 5th. Also, don't forget your $10 for your music t-shirts - you'll need them to tour the elementary schools this Friday. See Mrs. Ratelband if this is an issue.

The Latino Club will be hosting an event with prayer and discussion to celebrate the day of the candles and our lady of Guadalupe. It will take place in the Lecture Hall on Friday December 8th during the last half of both lunches. Students are reminded to bring battery operated candles. If you have any questions please feel free to ask Mr Bender in Room 1034.

The Giving Tree is set up on the second floor and is full of different denominations of gift cards that we will be using to provide our families with through the Pennies from Heaven Campaign. If you purchase a card, please drop it off in the main office. Please consider taking a tag and supporting our families.  Thank you from the Social Justice class.

Today is the day!  The long-anticipated Teacher vs Student Dodgeball Match will be happening during both lunches today.  Remember that this a cash only event and the entrance fee is $2.  Can Mr. DaCosta duck and dive?  Can Mr. O’Brien outrun a whizzing dodgeball?  All of these questions and more will be answered today if you attend this thrilling match!  Your $2 cash fee must be paid at the gym entrance before you are admitted.  This is a must-see event!

Attention all Jr. Boys basketball practice….there is no practice after school today.  Next game is against SJC on Monday at 4pm.  You have to wear your blue jerseys on Monday. 

Attention Vocal Ensemble - a reminder of our caroling this Saturday to support the "911 Holiday Toy Drive". If anyone has a new toy that they want to bring to support that would be great! They are trying to fill an ambulance, police cruiser and firetruck! Meet at 14 Garnet St. at the Cainsville Community Center for 1pm. Please dress warm as we MAY be singing outside.

As you may have noticed, there is a Christmas tree on the second floor in front of the chapel. This tree is called the Pennies from Heaven Tree. Please consider making a trip up to the second floor and selecting a tag off the tree with the store name and price that you wish to purchase. Buy the gift card according to what the chosen tag states and then bring the tag and purchased gift card to the office. These gift cards will help support our families in the Pennies from Heaven Campaign. Thank you!

The Community Skate Exchange returns this winter. Donate, exchange or pick-up a free pair of gently-used ice skates each Wednesday from December 6 to December 13, 2023 and January 10 to February 14, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Harmony Square main office. Community members in need of ice skates, or looking to exchange their old ones for a new size, are encouraged to attend.

The Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is organizing a Youth Cultural Camp for Métis youth (grade 10 to 12) to participate in cultural activities in-person.  The camp will celebrate Métis history as well as traditional and contemporary way of life and culture.  Please see the Guidance D2L page for more information.

The Gay Straight Alliance or GSA is meeting TODAY in the Drama Room during first lunch and in the Library Reading Room during second lunch.

Attention ALL grade 11 and 12 SHSM students!  Today is the day.   There are SHSM meetings in the Lecture Hall during all periods today.   The schedule is on your SHSM D2L page and posted on the student services window.  Please check-in with your classroom teacher for attendance and to get permission to attend this very important meeting.  If you cannot make it due to a test or assessment, follow-up with your SHSM lead teacher.

The Semi-Formal Dance is THIS FRIDAY Lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales for ACS students will continue this week on school cash online until Thursday or until the dance sells out. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door.  No resold or traded tickets will be accepted at the door. If you are no longer able to attend the event, please reach out to Ms Ristov for a refund. You MAY NOT sell or give your ticket to a friend. The theme of the dance is Black and Red Gala. Dress to excess in semi-formal attire. Outfits do not have to be red and black. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct, and should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
