Morning Announcements

It's PJ Day, Lions! Hope you are feeling extra comfy today. Tomorrow is the last day before Christmas Break and Student Council has some exciting plans for the day. Shortened classes in the morning, a common Christmas Lunch, and the Spirit of Christmas Assembly in the afternoon. Looking forward to a great day!

Today marks the final day of the homeroom Christmas card decorating competition. Cards will be picked up during period 1 today. The top 10 cards will be chosen by Student Council members by early afternoon, and pictures will be shared on our Student Council instagram account. Please take a few minutes today or tomorrow morning to vote for your favourite. The top 3 will be announced at tomorrow's Spirit of Christmas Assembly.

Popcorn will be sold tomorrow afternoon at the tuck shop outside the gym for $3. Be sure to bring your change for a tasty treat!

Reminder to the Varsity Boys Baseball Team to stop by Mrs. Lytle’s portable (Portable 5) before the end of the day today.

Yearbooks will be for sale at the back of the cafeteria during lunches today! All books will be for sale for $30 each. The 2022-2023 Yearbook and other past yearbooks will be available. 

Mr. Page would like to remind all STEM members to check their emails to get the latest information about upcoming STEM events.  Also please be aware that we have a STEM presentation TODAY during both lunches. Former Lion Dr. Genhee So, a radiologist, will be visiting, telling her story and discussing her role at both McMaster and St. Joseph's hospital.

Attention all grade 12 students- your 40 hours of community service are due in guidance TODAY!  Don't miss out on this important graduation requirement!!

Are you bored and have nothing to do on a Friday night in Brantford?  Do you love to hang out with your friends in a positive environment? Do you love to sing and show off your skills than look no further and come to the ACS Jack Chapter Post Christmas Karaoke!  The Annual Jack Chapter Christmas Karaoke will take place AFTER Christmas break this year on Friday January 12th from 6-9 PM. Tickets are $5 which include 2 slices of pizza. Tickets will be sold this Tuesday to Thursday this week and on Monday January 8th until Friday January 12th at both lunches! Come out and have fun in the New Year! 

Today’s special in the cafeteria will be the fan favourite Cheeseburger and Fries for $6.75.  The servery will not be open tomorrow.  We want to wish all the staff and students a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Be safe Lions and have an awesome day!

Dear ACS Knit Club.  Our meeting will be held TODAY from 3-4pm in Portable 17. We are ready to deliver the scarfs to our local shelter and make a delivery to our nurse at McMaster for the babies.  If anyone in the school has an idea for our next crochet project email Mrs. Cameron.

Attention musicians!  Are you looking for a chance to practice and perform with other talented students your age?  The ACS Junior Band will begin in the New Year.  We are looking for dedicated students who are willing to commit to practicing and attending weekly rehearsals.  A brief information meeting will be held this Wednesday, December 20th at 3pm in the music room to discuss the 2 performances scheduled so far in 2024, as well as what music we will be playing.  Please email Mr. G. if you have any questions.

The Dream It, Be it Advisory Steering Committee is recruiting Female School Ambassadors.  DREAM IT, BE IT is an empowering secondary school FREE career, trade, and life skills event. Girls from grades 9 - 12 are eligible to apply for these volunteer positions.  Participants can earn community service hours while learning about creating goals and overcoming obstacles.  Interested in learning more? Please see Ms. Chagnon in Student Services.

Good morning Lions and welcome to Day 7 of the 12 Days of Spirit! Do you need something fun to do on your lunch today? Come on up to the Lecture Hall and enjoy a Christmas movie during both lunches. On Monday, Student Council will be offering polaroid pictures in front of the Christmas tree. The cost per print is $1 so make sure to bring some change if you would like to participate. 

The Jack Chapter will have a short meeting from 3:05-3:30pm today in Portable 3. It is very important to establish ticket sales. Have a mentally healthy weekend!

The deadline for the December Leap writing contest is fast approaching.  Submit your story (fiction or non-fiction), poem, or essay with a message of Hope, Peace, Love or Joy by Monday, December 18th.  Your submissions can be emailed to Mrs. Bowen.  Please see the LEAP D2L page for more details.  Happy writing, Leapster!

Attention Graduating students.  A reminder to explore the Scholarship Suggestion Chart as well as the individual college and university websites that you have applied to for scholarship opportunities.  Please look at the criteria on D2L and sign up in Student Services by December 15th if you meet the criteria and you are interested in being considered as the Assumption College nominee(s) for The Western National Scholarship and The Schulich Leadership in STEM Scholarship.

Welcome to Day 5 of the 12 Days of Spirit Lions! Today we have Christmas Arts and Crafts in the Library at lunch. Come on out to the fishbowl if you would like to participate. A reminder that tomorrow is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. You may replace your uniform tops with an ugly Christmas sweater, but uniform bottoms and shoes must be worn.  

The GSA or Gay Straight Alliance is meeting today. The first lunch meeting has been moved to Portable 15. The second lunch group will be meeting in the Library Reading Room. 

Badminton training continues this week. Junior's will be practicing on Friday at 7am and Seniors will be practicing Thursday at 7am. More forms are available for pickup by the male Phys Ed office.
