Morning Announcements

Attention all girls trying out for the Fast Pitch team!  The final tryout is TODAY at 3:30pm. Please see Ms. McDade if you cannot attend.

Do you have a spring in your step these days? Well so do we! When the good weather comes you feel like singing and listening to good music! So why not come to the Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 17th at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30 and it's FREE, however, monetary donations to the music program are appreciated and accepted.

Anyone interested in being a part of next year's planning committee for STEM is asked to attend a meeting after school on Tuesday May 16th in Room 3005.

Hey Geographers! It's finally time! Grade 9 students who are participating in the Niagara Falls Water Conservation and Hydroelectricity Trip this Tuesday the 16th, please meet at the back gym doors, across from the portables. Please arrive at the school NO LATER than 8:45am, as the bus will leave at 9:00am sharp! Thank you, Ms. Czaplinska, Mrs. Willsher, and Mrs. Walsh!

Attention Lions!  Our next Casual Dress Day is on Wednesday, May 17th.  Don't forget your 2 dollars.  All money collected will go to the United Way.

Do you like to get outside and walk or run?  Then the Brantford Rotary Classic run is for you!  Join the ACS team this year on Sunday, June 4th to help support the Lansdowne Children Centre and the Boys and Girls Club.  If you are interested in being a part of this amazing event please see Mme. A Reminder to all Grads.  The Caroline Freibauer Memorial Award Applications are due this Thursday, May 18th.  Application can be found in the dropbox on the Grad D2L page.  Also, are looking to become a Doctor?  The James Robert Lefler Scholarship Application is due this Friday, May 19th.  Applications can be found in the dropbox on the Grad D2L Page.

Glow Dance is THIS THURSDAY Lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales will continue this week on school cash online until Wednesday. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. Students attending the dance, please keep the following in mind:
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Please note we will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. 
-Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you when you arrive. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. 
-If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office by no later than 12:30pm on the day of the dance. 
-The Glow Dance theme is Neon Lights. Dress in white or neon colours. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct, and should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School.

Attention all Visual Art SHSM students! There is a visual art trip to Toronto to visit the ROM happening on Thursday, May 25th. This is free for Visual Art SHSM students. See Ms. Benoit in the art rooms to get a permission form TODAY. There are limited spots available, and the trip is first come, first served.

We have an announcement from Mrs. Sheldrake. Students who are going tomorrow to the student conference are to meet her at the bell at 8:50am at the back of the school where the buses come in at the student parking lot.

The Shellard Lane Association is offering various volunteer opportunities for their initiative in bringing sports events to the area.  Please see the bulletin board outside of Student Services or the Guidance D2L page for more information.

Are you an Arabic- speaking newcomer between the ages of 16-18?  McMaster University is conducting a research study called Thriving Together to learn about how young people are adjusting and what supports are necessary. Your answers are confidential. For completing the survey you will receive a $15 gift card. You will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of 3 gift cards worth $100. To take part, you must be16 to 18 years old, arrived in Canada after January 2015, and be from an Arabic-speaking country.  Registration info is on the bulletin board in TLC. 

The ACE committee will be meeting TODAY during both lunches to begin planning for Culture Day! During first lunch, please meet in Room 3024. During second lunch, please meet in Room 1003. Any interested students who would like to participate in Culture Day, please join us at the meetings! Thank you, ACE!

A murder mystery event. Doesn’t that sound like something to die for? The Library Advisory Council has put together this blood-chilling event just for you! This event will take place on Wed. May 10, from 3-7 pm. There is a $5 fee which will go towards pizza and pop. Tickets are on sale at the back of the caf during both lunches. Come on out and put on your detective hats for our murder mystery night! See a member of the LAC for any questions.

Dear students.  Due to extenuating circumstances they will be no prayer after school today in the chapel. We will have the rosary next Tuesday.

Are you looking for somewhere to perform? Well look no further! The annual spring concert is holding auditions for acts to perform between classes and ensemble performances. Submit your performance audition via video to Mrs. Ratelband no later than TONIGHT at midnight. The spring concert is held Wednesday May 17th. Make sure your video is in one take with no edits! Good luck!

Attention Grade 12 students.  The school is hearing there have been glitches with the Grad Retreat online payment in the last couple of days so payment will remain open today. If you are having issues with making the payment please email Mrs. Sheldrake today or this evening to let her know. We want everyone to be able to attend who would like to. The date of the retreat is Tuesday May 23rd.

Attention Graduates:  A reminder that the Kent Dixon Service Award and the Mark G Dixon Memorial Award Applications are DUE THIS FRIDAY MAY12th.  Graduates, please also take the time to apply to the different scholarship and awards offered through your Post-Secondary Colleges and Universities.

The class of 2023 was in grade 9 when Teacher Librarian Ms. Freibauer completed her final year as a faculty member at Assumption College. Ms. Freibauer supported all areas of student life including sports, academics, the football knitting club, book clubs, coffee house and much more.  Ms. Freibauer passed away in August 2022.  A Grad Award has been set up in her name.  Graduates, please see D2L for the application process.

Attention all grade 12s!  The time is here to buy your tickets for this year's prom - 'Up Where They Glow.'  Beginning Sunday, May 7th until Friday May 12th ONLY, students can purchase prom tickets via cash online. NO cash will be accepted in person. Once complete, please bring your printed receipt to the back of the cafeteria on your lunch to receive your physical tickets. Tickets are $65 each. You can also pick up the physical ticket of a non-ACS guest on their behalf. We just need their contact information, the school they attend, dietary restrictions and any allergy information. Students will also be able to create their tables once they receive their tickets. Please keep in mind that there will only be ONE WEEK of ticket sales and as they sold out last year, you don't want to wait!

A reminder to all participants in Assumption Cares.  We are having a meeting TODAY at lunch in the Lecture Hall.  If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Roche in Room 3029.

There will be a meeting TODAY for all Indigenous students at 10:30am in the Lecture Hall.  Students are to report to period 2 for attendance before going to the meeting.

An important reminder to grade 11 and 12 students: the Letter Lion Applications are due TODAY.  We cannot accept late applications.

A reminder to all Grade 12 students that Monday is the last day to pay online for the Grad Retreat. It's going to be a great day of outdoor camp games and activities and hanging out with friends and making more great memories to add to your graduating year. The date of the camp is Tuesday, May 23rd. It's the day after the holiday Monday so it will be a nice short school week for those who attend the retreat. 

Dear Lions.  Mrs. Cameron would like to invite you to pray the rosary in the chapel after school each Tuesday. May is a month of our dear Lady of Assumption. If you have your own rosary bring it.  Hope to see you there. Email Mrs. Cameron if you plan to attend or just pop in. We will start at 3:15pm

Listen up Lions! Student Council is planning the Glow Dance on Thursday May 18th from 6:00-9:00 PM. Ticket sales will start on Monday May 8th – but if you are planning on bringing a guest from another school, guest forms are available in the MAIN OFFICE now! Only one guest is allowed per student, and they must be enrolled in high school to attend. Make sure you pick up this form A.S.A.P. because your guest needs to have it filled out before they can be sold a ticket.
