Anyone want to see "Assumption's Got Talent"?  Tickets go on sale TODAY! They are sold during both lunches at the back of the caf for $5!  The show starts at 6p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th. See you there!

There will be a mandatory Jack Chapter meeting on Friday at 3:05 in room 3021.  Please let Miss Dabrowski know if you cannot attend.  Thank you and have a mentally healthy day!

Attention all boys Lacrosse players….our first practice will be held on Monday April 17, after school at 3:15pm.  Arrive with all your gear.   Students who wish to play that cannot attend, must see Mr. Petrella in the male Phys Ed office before Friday of this week.

On April 17th there will be a Haudenosaunee Social in the cafe during 4th period.  Students must sign up for the Social in Ms. Skye's office before the end of Friday. If you are bringing an ACS classmate, they must be signed up also.  Reminder, 100% participation is required.

A reminder for students in financial need for College or University in the fall to consider applying for the Samuel W. Stedman Foundation Bursary - see web application on D2L. Applications are due April 30th.

Calling all grade 12 SHSM students.  Your mandatory First Aid and CPR training will take place Monday April 17th and Tuesday April 18th in the small gym.  A full list of participants and important information is on the window at student services and has also been emailed to you. Make sure to read this. If you feel you should be participating and have been missed please go to student services for help.  This training brings you closer to completing your SHSM designation. See you April 17th and 18th.

Any Graduates who missed photos, or would like a retake, we have a pop-up studio scheduled for Saturday, April 29 at St. Mark’s Church on Memorial Dr. in Brantford.  ACS Gowns and Stoles provided.  Appointments can be booked, and all information found here:

Reminder that boys’ varsity baseball tryouts take place today and tomorrow at Lion’s Park. Meet at the diamonds near Gilkison for 3:30pm. Same as yesterday: You need to arrange your own ride to and from tryouts. You definitely need a permission form if you do not already have one. See your school email for more details.

If you answered yes to the above questions, please sign up for our very first competitive co-ed ultimate frisbee team.  Try Outs will be TODAY and TOMORROW after school. Assumption DOES have talent!  The 5 judges have narrowed it down to the top 10.  They will be performing LIVE next Wednesday, April 19th, starting at 6pm. For only $5 you can witness an evening filled with top-notch performances. See you there!

CWAYC IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT THIS YEAR'S MODEL UNITED NATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY MAY 19TH.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CURRENT EVENTS AND LOVE TO DEBATE, THIS EVENT IS FOR YOU.  MRS. FLANAGAN IS LOOKING FOR AN EXECUTIVE TEAM OF SENIOR STUDENTS TO HELP RUN THE EVENT.  THIS WILL INCLUDE VETTING THE APPLICATION FORMS, WRITING THE RESOLUTION TO BE DEBATED, ASSIGNING COUNTRIES, AS WELL AS PROMOTING AND RUNNING THE EVENT.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, APPLICATIONS FOR THE EXECUTIVE ARE OUTSIDE ROOM 1013.  APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 3:00 ON FRIDAY APRIL 14TH.  AFTER THE EXECUTIVE TEAM IS PICKED, DELEGATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE THAT WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DAY.  EMAIL MRS. Attention Indigenous Students.  During both lunches TODAY, there will be a drop-in session in the Reading Room in the Library.  This gathering is to get input on next steps for Indigenous activities and promote well-being.  Light lunch is offered.

Boys Varsity Baseball tryouts will begin on Tuesday, April 11th after school from 3:30 to 5pm.  Please submit your signed permission form to Ms. Lytle in Portable 5 beforehand.  Students will need to arrange their own rides to the baseball field.  Location to be announced Tuesday.

Or have a good general knowledge about Canada and the World?  And LOVE trivia?  If so,  QUAKE has an opportunity for you!  We are looking to name Assumption’s “School Geography Champion” in the Canadian Geographic Geography Challenge!  The 50 question Multiple Choice Challenge will be held on Thursday, April 13th during First Lunch.  See Mrs. Walsh ASAP in Room 3010 during both lunches to sign up and be provided with further information. 

Attention all SENIOR Visual Art students! There is a visual art trip to Toronto to visit the Disney Animation Immersive Experience happening on Thursday, April 27th. The trip is now open to all visual art SHSM and grade 11 and 12 art students. This is free for Visual Art SHSM student and only $22.60 for non-SHSM students. See Ms. Benoit in the art rooms to get a permission form today. There are limited tickets available, and the trip is first come, first served.

Attention Class of 2023!  Each High School in Brant County is eligible to nominate 2 students for the James Hillier Scholarship.  If you are a Student who has been accepted to a University or College program in Science and Technology and have achieved over 90% average on your top 6 University or Mixed level courses, including at least 2 sciences, have been a resident of Brantford or Brant County for your final 3 years of high school, are interested in scientific research, and would like to be interviewed and considered for the Hillier Scholarship, please sign up in Student Services.  This is the first step of the nomination process.  Sign-up by Tuesday April 11th.

Any boys interested in playing varsity boys baseball this year are asked to pick up a form outside of the male phys-ed office.  Please return the form to Mrs. Lytle in Portable 5 by Thursday, April 6th at the end of the school day.  

There will be a Virtual Prom Meeting for all Grade 12 Period 2 classes on Wednesday, April 5th.  The meeting will take 15 to 20 minutes.  Students with Period 2 spare can join the meeting via TEAMs in the cafeteria.  Please see Ms. Christie in the caf.

Attention ACS Knitting Club.  A reminder of our meeting after school this Wednesday, April 5th from 3pm to 4pm. Proud of you on the work on our blankets (from Mrs. Cameron)!

ACS Student Council will be hosting our Spring Coffee House on May 4th! Do you have a musical talent you'd like to share? Auditions for this event will be held during both lunches on Thursday April 6th in the lecture hall. If you are unable to make the auditions but would like to participate, please email Ms Ristov with a short video submission.

Do you want to buy candy while supporting a cause? The ACE Committee will be selling bags of candy during both lunches at the back of the caf every day of this week. Bags will cost a minimum of 3 dollars, but everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they want. All donated money will be going towards relief efforts for those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria!

The YMCA Youth Transition Program will be at ACS again next Tuesday during both lunches. Curious to see what it’s all about? Drop into TLC at the beginning of your lunch and learn about what the program can do for you. In addition to their services, they can help you network in the community and set you up with necessary resources. There is no pressure to stay or sign up if you feel the program isn’t for you. So come out, check it out, grab a snack, and learn something new!

Attention STEM members, we have an upcoming meeting scheduled for Wednesday April 5th.  Our speaker is Mark Richardson, who is the Education and Outreach Officer at the Arthur B. McDonald Institute, a Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research center. Mark was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he fell in love with the night skies. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics at Saint Mary's University, he escaped the winter weather and did a PhD in Astrophysics at Arizona State University. He studies how galaxies form and change over time in an effort to understand our own place in the cosmos. Mark has since held research positions at Oxford University   and the American Museum of Natural History in New York and joined Queen's University and the McDonald Institute in 2018. Note the start times: students with first lunch are to be dismissed at 11:15 and are to make their way to the lecture hall as soon as possible. Those with second lunch are to be dismissed at 12:35. This way our presenter will have plenty of time to discuss topics such as galaxy formation and dark matter.
